Thread: A Dog Chasing its Own Tail

When it comes to lucid dreaming, can anyone relate to this analogy?

It's a sporadic, hard to control process. Because of the way our survival instincts work, our dream function is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to utilize in a satisfactory way to fulfil our fantasies. I really don't think it's supposed to be used this way.

This could be described as a psychological obstacle course that reinforces associative memory functions, which you can have fun conquering and exploring; however, just because you desire something, you cannot always expect the unconscious mind to meet you halfway.

I have had some very worthwhile experiences, yet I cannot help but feel that there will always be room for improvement. I've learned to accept that I might not fully achieve what I want, since dreaming is almost entirely based on resolution and impermanence. There might always be an issue present, in one form or another.

Obviously, I'm speaking from a subjective standpoint, but perhaps this might help put things into perspective for those who are struggling to make dreaming into what they want it to be.
