      Question what was this?

today i experienced something out of normal (for me).
So, i was dreaming that i was on my computer on my room (and somehow my computer was out
of it's place). after a few minutes i get out of my computer and go to my parents room.
For some reason when i start to get near my parents room i look at my hand and start
to breath very fast in my dream and in real-life too, then i woke up, and was like "wtf? was i about to get lucid?"

can someone tell me what was this?

only you can know what it was ! words will never depict the richness and weirdness of sleep/dream experiences.

did you see extra fingers or something strange ?
probably you were close, but your excitement woke you up. It's only natural to become excited, specially for the first times.
Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

It could be that your suconscious knew that looking at hands is a reality check, and while consciously you did not realize this is a dream but maybe your subconscious knew, and got excited and hyperventilating because when one gets lucid one does. So you kind of skipped the important part of actually realizing it is a dream, but you had what comes before (reality check) and what comes after (excitement). Yes, this was probably close to being lucid, but not quite because for lucidity you do need that important step in between (actually realizing it's a dream).

I recently also have been having almost lucid dreams: in one of my dreams I admired how "vivid" the snow fortress was - I didn't actually consciously think it is a dream, but admiring something as vivid implies a subconscious knowledge of dream state. In another dream recently I knew I could defeat the bad guys using my superior martial arts skills - the dream was non-lucid but the feeling of certain ness, of being in control, of empowerment it reminded me of this emotion in lucid dreams. I in hindsight recognized the emotion as close to lucidity because I had not usually had this kind of emotion in lucid dreams but regularly in non-lucids.

So I think it is possible we both are having non-lucid dreams which are close to lucidity. Lucidity is just around the corner.
