I am doing awareness at least 5 times a day.
But i never "saw" me doing awareness on a dream, i simply do some RCs (although i don't get lucid)
but i don't stop to analyze things.
can someone tell me what i am doing wrong?

Maybe you just need some more time? From person to person it takes different amount of time to incubate something into the dream. You could also try increasing chance of incobating it with a mantra while falling asleep and/or by writing/typing it out somewhere right before going to sleep. :)
During day, when you ask yourself if you dreaming and when you doing RCs, do you really believe that you are dreaming? If not, put some emotions into it. If you do, than maybe you just need more time, as checker666 said.
I have the same problem ... but I guess gab abd checker666 are right. That said, I've found that WBTB and WILD have worked better for me than DILD ...
Shouldn't give up though.
Well, whenever i do a awareness test i try to convice my mind this is a dream, although i just get a bit excitement.
thanks for the tips btw :)
oh i see, well my mantra is always "I know that i am dreaming" not sure if that is enough though :p
thanks for the tip btw :)
Don't assume that a day where you perform 30 reality checks yields more chances to a lucid than a day where you perform 15 reality checks. It isn't that simple :)
Besides, just look at ordinary content: I turn my computer on every day, spend loads of times in it, doing things that I like, things that I have to do, and my dreams almost never include me in my computer. Now picture me as having an important meeting at work: my chance of false awakenings increases a lot. Like the people above said, emotion is crucial in incubation of content. But you also have to take into account the random chances of it. Many studies proved that there's some delay of experiences on the dream content. Sometimes it's days, sometimes it's week. Since lucid dreaming is something that goes against what you've been doing for all the previous years of your life, it's natural that it takes longer and it's much more random.
Could you tell me more about those awareness-tests? Do you mean a reality check or do you have 5 moments where you focus more on each sense to heighten your awareness? Something like All Day Awareness?
Ah okay, did you follow any tutorials for techniques? I can recommend KingYoshi's ADA Tutorial and Sivason's Dream Yoga tutorials. I'm pretty sure if you'll follow a lesson or 2 of Sivason's Dream Yoga you will see some improvement :)
Do you only pay that extra attention to sight? For a bunch of training techniques for each sense, I'd like to refer to this.
You can test how strong your intent is by taking inventory of how many times your waking up and falling back to sleep at night and what your intentions are when falling back to sleep. If you wake up 4 times during the night and every time even though drowsy remind yourself how important lucid dreaming is to you with a short thought about it. If you do that consistently through the night 1 or two things will more then likely happen. You'll either walk into a dream lucid or at some point during the dream realize your still in your bed. Or during one of your awakenings you'll become aware of vibrations at which point you can have an outer body experience. :-) peace.
Well, when you do awareness 5 times a day, does that only concern sight? Do you only try to see things you otherwise wouldn't notice? Or do you also try to feel the wind on your cheeks, hear the wind blowing with your ears, feel your pants against your legs when you're walking and hear people mumbling from meters away?
There's a lot of stuff you obviously wouldn't notice because they're always there. Training awareness is about training each and every sense. Besides sight, you'll also need to pay attention to what you hear, feel, smell and taste :) If I'm unable to make myself clear, please check out this link :)
Good luck!!
Excellent explanation of awareness http://www.dreamviews.com/wild/13181...prep-part.html
Basically, you are like a little mouse that comes out in the open. You have to be aware of everything that surrounds you if you don't want to become someones dinner.
Hmm, I still haven't performed a RC in a dream and have been doing those for some months now. This has not hampered my lucidity though. I just find myself aware and know it's a dream immediately, so don't perform RCs when lucid. Still, I am convinced that the RCs are working on a subconscious level. I also sporadically do ADA, and if not anything else if makes me feel great during the day and I am sure it trains my dreaming attention too.
To conclude, I think you should keep up with your ADA technique, it may take some time to sink in, but will certainly help you in the future. Sweet dreams! :)
So i guess i am doing the right thing, i stop what i am doing and analyze what is around me.
i guess it's just a question of habit now :)
I perform RCs while i am not lucid, and if i see something weird, like 7 fingers
in each hand, i keep dreaming like it was something normal lol.
Not sure whether I am doing the awareness thing right either, but here is some of the stuff I did during a walk earlier today: I noticed more details about things and people around me visually. I noticed some smells I was passing like cigarette smoke or a smell coming out of a restaurant. I actually listened to some fragments of conversations of the strangers I was passing and attempted to make a bit of sense of them - that was hard because I was passing them pretty fast and heard only a snippet in mid conversation, but I noticed for example that one grou I passed spoke French, and there was some woman I directing the planting of some plants in a garden and that appeared like a very structured activity. I noticed a woman in a car that was parked awkwardly as if waiting for someone. She was elderly, and then I noticed an elderly man fumbling with keys to get into the house on the other side of the sidewalk from where she was, so I figured those two belonged together, and she was waiting for him. I noticed a group of people who looked like they could be a tour group, and some of them were strangely color coordinated in some accessories - like one woman's hat matched in color another's scarf. I saw two women in sweaters that were different but looked like maybe made of same wool, and noticed their age difference might mean mother and grown daughter. I tried to make eye contact with some people I passed.
I start each of my RCs and mantras (during day) with a question that stops me from doing whatever I'm doing. I ask myself "wow, am I dreaming? This could be (is) a dream". And I believe that to be the truth. I look around me and expect something to happen, as if it could in a dream. Then I do RCs and mantras.
Then, when you are in regular dream, this startling "wow, am I dreaming" feeling hits you and you become aware and lucid, or you get an urge to RC and to confirm. But by the time I finish RCs, most of the time I already know I'm dreaming. Awareness question in Collection of techniques for DILD.
If you don't have enough awareness, than even if you decide to RC and see 7 fingers, not even that gets you lucid. First comes awareness, than you either know without RC, or RC confirms. Or you just decide to RC before jumping off the balcony:alien:
I agree with what gab said. I also mostly do affirmative RCs, where I ask myself if this could be a dream and always answer, yes, I might be dreaming right now. So I look around and pretend that it is really a dream. Another thing you might find useful is to double RC. Look at your hands and ok, maybe you have 7 fingers, then stare at a digital clock or anything written and read it out loud, then look back and see if it changes. Usually it will, perhaps that realization will be enough to lead you into lucidity. Good luck! :)
My method is pretty same as yours, and i can't stop and analyze things on my dreams :s
Maybe because i usually i am on the street on my dreams. and if i take a walk on the street on real life i don't stop
to analyze things, most of times i do the awareness test at home or at school.
I gave a look on your thread, and that is the pretty same i am doing right now.
and my dreams are still normal, but well who knows, maybe i'll get there with time.
thanks for tip gab and everyone :)
