Question Do you think I really WAS lucid?

Last night, I dreamt (duh), but I had a 'lucid' dream (also the only one I can remember of that night). The moment the dream started (as far as I know) I up and said, "Oh, I'm dreaming." -Note that there is no exclamation point. Then I started to do stuff. But I wouldn't have done that, now that I reflect, if I was lucid. I remember only two specific points where I may have had control: Once, when I could feel that my real body was hot and bothered (maybe I was completely covered by the sheets), and once, when I made a door open to a completely black space rather than the outside world - but that one is questionable. The plot of the dream was to wake up, or to 'escape'. However, I believe that if I was lucid, waking up would have been easy. I think I was being chased by Assassin's Creed (1) guards in a similar setting. Anyway, my question is: Do you think I really was lucid? I mean it was totally possible that I may have been. Might I have been lucid for just one second? Please give me your expert opinions.

      Additional info:
      -Novice
-Did not become 'lucid' b/c of any sign or check
-Also I felt a rumbling the moment after I said the sentence
-Anything else you want to know?

People like to put "levels" to lucidity. Many on here would say you were experiencing a low level lucid dream. You could label it as that, but I'd say you were not lucid. If you experienced proper lucidity in a dream, there would be no mistaking it. I believe someone mentioned on a thread like this that your awareness plays a huge part in experiencing lucidity. If your awareness in the dream is quite low, you may go "this is a dream" but not actually comprehend what that means. So you don't realize at the time that it's a world created in your mind that can be manipulated as you wish.

Don't be confused though. The fact that you were able to tell yourself that it was a dream is a big step forward. Just be sure that when you RC in real life you actually take a deep breath and look, hear, and feel the world around you. Try to ask yourself "Why isn't this a dream?". Find things in the world around you that prove you're not dreaming. And be very careful to analyze the things you notice. Don't look at something and go "Oh, that's normal". Look at it and check your memories, make sure that it is actually normal. Because in dreams you will be tricked by your subconscious into believing silly explanations. Don't let it win!

Of course, I'm not of great experience, so everyone feel free to improve on what I'm saying.

Being lucid means being aware that you are dreaming. If you feel like you were aware at that moment, then you were lucid, otherwise it could have been that you just said "I'm dreaming" but didn't really quite realized it. Sometimes we don't quite follow our waking mindset when lucid though, because we don't always regain waking memory.
As Sambrosia says, even if you were non-lucid, it's still a step forward so don't be discouraged, next time you'll do better.

I personally don't believe in "Lucidity Levels" either you were, or you weren't. Trust me, you will KNOW the first time you are truly lucid. Electricity surges from you, and you "zoom" into your dream body, gaining sudden clarity and control and point of view as if you were awake. It is astounding, and almost orgasmic, like cold water being splashed in your face.

On top of this, you wake up, usually smiling, and you KNOW that you had a lucid dream. I think Lucid Levels are a sort of way to lie to yourself, and that is horribly damaging to your lucid progress. If you convince yourself that an unstable, maybe-lucid is still lucid, you will stop striving for a truly 100% lucid dream because your subconscious will be convinced that there is no higher level of lucidity.

If you have to question it, I don't believe it was lucid. Keep trying, and you will eventually have an incredible, fully lucid experience!

For me it looks like "Dream about Lucid Dream". Almost every time when you notice that you're dreaming it consider with emotions like "excitement, elation, happiness" and strong emotions in LD causing problems with dream( it can even make you awaken). You have not positive emotions so... hmm... Yeah I guess that dream about lucid dream. Hmm... And this rubling... What was that exactly ?

Ummm....Well I tried WILD once a while ago (had about 8 months lapse with LD's and such) and for whatever reason I associated it with rumbling. And once, I had the weirdest experience. I was in a black, completely black area, and there was nobody nor anything there. I felt my body, knew I was about to wake up, but every time I would, idk, try to move my arm, I heard a VERY intense rumbling, like and earthquake. Then after about five seconds, It just kept going it to a sort of spiraling downward into waking life. It was terrifying, but the most thrilling thing I have ever taken part of. So now, I guess, LD's are associated with rumbling.
Oh yeah and that was just like 1/2 second of light rumble, nothing big

It looks like dream paralisys. I wrote a lot of lines about this but It got erased and I'm too lazy to write it again... Sorry. :/ When you're in paralisys you can not move, looks like you can't breath too but it's not true it's only feeling however you've got hallucinations that time and usually it accompanied with powerless feeling and fear. Hmm... On my example I hear storm, lighting and high screech. Other people can feel like their falling or something is attacking them(usually man or monster is stifling them). I guess everything I didn't check.

I would count it as a lucid dream, just a barely lucid one (one in which you just knew that you were dreaming, but none of the related awareness or control), the bare minimum requirement for a lucid dream.

There is no need of control. YOu have just to know that you dream while dreaming... And as I said if you're newbie you can confuse that easily with dream about lucid dream.
