      Ah troubles

Good day to everyone. I've been interested in lucid dreaming for about a month. I've done my homework-- it seems that everyone suggests keeping a dream journal as a good first step. Oh, I should mention that I hardly ever remember dreams.

Anyhow, the first couple nights I remembered dreams upon waking but after that I just don't recall a blessed thing.

      I'd appreciated insights and advice.

      Thanks

      Hi David!
      Glad you're interested!
Don't give up, and don't make it out to be something 'hard' to do.
Make yourself believe you can and will and Are doing it.
Keeping a dream journal is very essential....keep it by your bed, get a low light so you can write it down (or at least jot notes to jog your memory) once you awaken.
Also, what helps, is to tell yourself (affirm) when you go to bed that you Will remember your dreams, and you will awaken to record.
For me, I can carry my memories of my earlier dreams on thru my later dreams. I find in my dream that I tell myself, "now I need to remember this" and many times I will actually replay earlier dreams within the later dreams...kinda like multi tasking!
When you do this over and over and over every night vigilantly, things will start to happen for you.
Also, it helps when you awaken in the a.m., if you are a solid sleeper thru the entire night, try to train yourself to awaken S-L-O-W-L-Y...and without an alarm clock. This way, you can keep still and keep your eyes closed and not lose your memory so quickly.
Just keep still and relax...ask simple questions that will help you to remember what you dreamed.
And be patient, expect to remember, but don't get agitated. Just let it Happen!

Then during your waking hours, make it an obsession that you want to dream and LD! Learn how to do Reality Checks thru the day, and Learn to be "Mindful" instead of "Mindless" throughout the day. Become Aware of every little detail and Notice things that you take for granted everyday...This habit will eventually carry over into your dreams and allow you to become lucid at will
      Good Luck!

      Until then,
      Hang Lucid

Something else you could do is try to convince you're mind at night that you want to remember your dreams. Just say "I will remember my dreams" as you go to sleep. Also in the morning, once you wake up, dont do ANYTHING at all. Not even get up nor move. Lie there and try to recall anything as best as you can. Do it for 5-10 minutes. If you cant remember anything, then just get up and hopefully something will eventually remind you of that dream
