      I'm stuck

First of all Hello to all the other dreamers here. I'm a 28 year old Male occasional Lucid Dreamer. I havn't got to read through the other posts yet but I will asap.

I had a dream a couple weeks ago in which a guy I used to know (and had no problem with) but haven't seen in like 10 years shot me in the face and killed me in front of my sister. I came back to life and also became lucid in the dream and swore to get revenge on this dream character. I plotted in the dream that no matter how long it takes I would track this him down in another dream, I will become lucid and make him pay.

After I woke up I thought it was a cool idea for a lucid dream quest. So I decided to initiate the "dream bounty."

I've only had a couple lucid dreams but I generally get the idea. The last couple days I been working with reality checks and dream recall but I'm kind of stuck because I just started watching a show called arrested development and every night before bed I have been watching a episode and now it seems like that's all I dream about. They are just stupid meaningless short boring dreams about the show and they aren't even vivid...their really weak. The last 3 nights that's all I have been recalling and now I don't even bother recording them if they have anything to do with the show. I just block them out.

Last night I set my alarm to go off at 2am so I could try a WILD. When I did wake up all I remembered was another stupid dream about the show....I reset my alarm, went back to sleep, woke up at 6 and AGAIN all I remembered was ANOTHER dream about that show.

I'm frustrated and was wondering if any of you had some tips to help me out with this problem.

      Thanks

Record the dreams anyways! Always record your dreams, even if you don't even remember having them!
On that note, any dream is a good dream! You should keep working on reality checks, (be sure you train yourself to do them to check whether you're dreaming or not, not just mindlessly out of habit.) and I would also recommend using mantras (i.e: Everytime you count your fingers or even see your hands at all, study them and say something like, "I see my hands and realize I'm dreaming." Or, as you go to sleep, say something like, "I am lucid dreaming") (Make sure it's present tense)
Your main goal should just be being able to become lucid enough to have at least some control over the dream. And most importantly, you have to keep up the desire to lucid dream, and to complete goals you've set for yourself to do during the dream; if you have little or no desire to LD, it becomes far more unlikely that you will.

I agree with you and thank you for the reply.

I'm just so burnt out on those same dreams it's actually slowing down my progress, but that's ok I'll take your advice.

So how do you record a dream if you don't remember having one?

I usually just write "No memory of dreams" and then put some sort of frowny face or something to remind myself that it's disappointing to not remember dreams.
You can write whatever you feel suits you, but it's best to put some sort of reminder to remember next time. I wish you luck in achieving lucidity; I know how much it sucks to dream the same thing over and over when you want something different. =/

PS: If you find yourself having trouble getting yourself to actually open your DJ and write down your dreams, I find it helps to keeps your DJ out of sight until you're ready to use it. (i.e: keep it in a drawer or something in your room during the day, and then lay it somewhere right next to your bed when you start trying to sleep, and put it away once you've written in it.) That way, since you don't have it in plain sight all day, it will seem a little more unusual and cause you think about it more as you fall asleep, and when you wake up, it'll be more tempting to read/write in. At least, that's my experience.

Dragongirl makes an excellent point. Always record your dreams no matter what they are, no matter how little or uninteresting they are. Ultimately it leads to better recall, and lucidity. Why don't you do reality checks everytime you watch the show in real life? If they show up a lot in your dreams, you can use that to help you get lucid and carry out your quest. That way when you dream about it again, you might remember to RC and get lucid! The thing is, if you pick which dreams to record and remember, you'll have the same mentality in dreams and you might miss remembering other dreams because of that. I also recommend daydreaming/visualizing your preferred dream right before bed. Maybe the reason you keep dreaming about the show is because it's the last thing on your mind before bed. So if you think of something else right before bed, you might counteract that.

      Good luck!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
