Really Strange LD'ing- Does Anyone know what happened?

I had a really strange dreaming experience, as the title would suggest, and I wanted to share this weirdness and understand why it occurred because it ruined my LD, so I'll just get right into it.
I was sleeping, and dreaming, I was going to my car after school in the dream and analyzing different interesting points throughout the day. Suddenly I spontaneously realized I was dreaming, and before I had time to react or do anything there was a loud screeching noise, like a fax machine but it changed pitch more frequently and was a lot more painful, and the dream turned into static and faded into darkness. At first I thought I was dreaming again, but just had my eyes closed, I have made that mistake before, but when I opened my eyes I was on my bed. I figured I could still be dreaming, so I ran a couple dream checks but I found I was in reality.
So does anyone know why this dream collapsed so suddenly? I'm thinking its not my emotional reaction, because the dream collapsed before I had time to make one. It was like the fact I knew I was dreaming alone destroyed it, which sounds really odd to me because that's the definition of a lucid dream, and so many people have them. It was also way before I usually wake up. I go to bed at 10:00 and wake up at 4:45 for a class at 6, but when I looked at the clock, it read 3:25.
Thank you for reading my post, and I hope someone can help me out with this .

Well, i am definitely not an experienced dreamer, but i have done alot of research and seen alot of comments/ threads.
The sheer excitement can and usually does cause someone to "lose" their lucid dream or just come out of the dream like you did!
It isn't uncommon for this to happen, so i wouldn't worry and keep on trying
If you realize you are dreaming in a dream and become lucid, relax, don't get too excited, and rub your hands together! This can cause the lucid dream to last longer sometimes! Just try to keep your emotions stable! In my first (and only) lucid dream, after getting rid of the danger i became a little excited and lost the dream!
I am not sure about the the high frequency noise though? Perhaps someone else can help you out with that one
I hope i was some assistance!

There's every chance that it was excitement, as yacka said. You could also have just been at the end of the REM cycle, in which case your dream would dissolve anyway, and because you were already aware, you were aware of the awakening after the dream. You awaken after every dream you have, you just don't remember it usually because you are still half asleep, this was just you waking up and staying aware, as you were in the dream.

Don't let it get to you, it won't happen next time, just stay aware of your dream and stay aware of your surroundings within the dream and it shouldn't collapse
