      Help from DCs

Last night I had an LD where I went outside to fly. But I could not get off the ground...It was a very realistic one, and I am thinking I had an element of doubt in my mind. But my 2 year old grandaughter DC who had been following me made a laugh or noise behind me. When I turned around she was floating on her back a foot or 2 off the ground. I figured if she could float I could too.. and fellhorizontal figuring I would fall or float. I floated, and then she and I went flying.

Have you ever received "help" from a DC? I have had other DCs tell me I was dreaming. I was curious what others have experienced. DC help is something I have encountered only after some experience was developed and was wondering if this is common.

Not a lucid dream, but I once dreamed that I was swimming in a large bay next to a docked ship. A giant panel slid open on the hull, and an enormous blast of water came out, like what you would see coming through a dam. The flow stopped, and there was a backwash as the panel slid closed with huge mechanical noises. I could see interlocking hydraulics making the whole process work. Anyway, I almost got pulled in with the backwash and ground up in the gears. When everything got calm, I swam as quickly away as I could, but the process repeated itself. A character I knew from a TV show arrived in an inflatable raft and said, "Get in! We've got to get out of here!" As we motored away, I became angry that I almost died. I said, "What the hell kind of stupidity was that! Why would a ship do that?" He shouted over the noise of the motor, "That ship is going down! It's the bilge pump trying to keep up, but it's not enough!" I turned around to look, and sure enough, now I could see the ship listing, and the bilge pump thing made sense.

I always wondered how a dream character knew something I didn't.

mine almost never help. in fact just the opposite. they almost always try to trick me into believing that i'm not dreaming. even after i reality check to confirm that i'm dreaming and confront them why they would lie they usually just laugh at me.

Haha. DCs sometimes make fun of me or try and distract me. I have had help flying and summoning and becoming lucid from DCs. A friend of mine was told how to get out of any dream by thinking about his address, since then it works every time, I haven't tried it yet because I don't want to leave dreams.

Recently sometimes DCs 'wake me up' by throwing pillows at me in my FAs, which makes me do RC or even go lucid outright, haha.

My DC's are usually helpful when I get lucid. Sometimes they help me do things and go "Maybe you should try it with your other hand" etc. Sometimes they also remind me to stay lucid every few minutes or so. My guess is that it's more common than we think, and maybe they tend to help out and we just dont realize it?

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

I've never had help from a DC, only minor hinderence now and then. But this make me wonder if it would be possible to sort of train DCs to be helpful. Maybe try and get a DC to help, prefferably from a character that appears often, and see if this trend can sort of be learn for subsequent dreams, i.e. you see them again in another DC and you expect them to be helpful because of last time. I imagine helpful DCs would be quite...well, helpful!
