      Easy answer! No Way!!!

Life is way too complex and rewarding. Although it is great to be a god in the lucid realm, it is much mor satisfying to be a mortal in the waking realm.

It would be fun to spend all your time in a lucid dream... for a while. Eventually, though, things would get boring. There would really be no one external to yourself to converse with, share ideas with, be human with. You'd essentially be trapped in your own mind. In lucid dreams, eventually, nothing really challenges us, makes us work for the reward. As a result, the reward isn't as sweet as it would be had we worked for it.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

Your reply sounds like some of the Spiritualist Life after Death experiences I have read about. Maybe we continue to learn from our mistakes or keep outgrowing ourselves..............but isn't everyday life just one of those examples.

Granted the question is tough, the answer is much more difficult.

It would simply depend if the person has a need to escape this life. But, personally i would have to agree and say "real" life is much more rewarding in many ways.

Exactly! Where is the honor and opportunity to grow if you can just wave your hand and cause all manner of evil and distress to disappear?

Although I enjoy my lucid life immensively, real live, no matter how difficult, is ultimately more rewarding.

In a way I believe you are right. I do not believe 'Heaven' to be all Flowers and Love and that we have many lessons to learn along the way....if you go for all that. But I'm sure many would go for the 'easy option'. But let's face it............There is no point in suffering forever...........The lesson has to come to an end.

Also, don't forget that in your dreams, the amount of knowledge that exists consists of what you know, and what you can invent/figure out. You can't get any new knowledge. You will never hear new music, unless you make it up. You may be god and everything, but you would get bored. It's just life, without the stress, and with different rules.

Imagine putting a kid into Disney World for an entire year. Well, he would probably be sick of it day after day, after a month or so.

I've talked to people over 70 (incl my mum) and some enjoy learning something new. A lady over 80 who I spoke to the other day still goes to the library each week and borrows books and others are learning how to use computers!

Eternity is a very long time to go without a little bit of reality. What happens when you lose control or something does not change?

At the moment I can enjoy the best of both worlds and nothing beats that!

I'm sure there'll still be lots of lessons to be learnt when I'm 70. Like: 'How to bend down without my
back snapping in two', or 'How to kill those new enemies in Half-life 10'. I cant wait

Definitely it would be cool to be in an LD for a very long time, but eternity... Eventually you would run out of ideas of what to do and how to entertain yourself. Besides, in a dream all the people are just creations of your own mind without their own consciousnesses, so you wouldn't be able to have any intellectual discussion with them. That's something I would miss badly.

And in an eternal LD you would always know that it's just a dream instead of reality. Even you wouldn't be real, just part of your own imagination. I want to be real, and this world is real.

As someone already said, it's much better with both; this real world and the possibilities of lucid dreaming.

My desire for power and fantasy urges me to say yes, but my soul screams "NO!"

An eternal lucid dream may be enjoyable, but slowly the soul would empty and wither away. It is the connection with others that keeps our spirit alive. In a lucid dream there is no love. In life there is love.

LDs can be tools for life, but without life LDs mean nothing.
Never stop searching for truth. In your search you may think you have found it, and perhaps you have, but if you hold on tightly to a single thread it will fray and it's greater meaning will become lost. There is always more truth stretching deep beneath the surface that promises to reveal ever greater the infinite, interwoven fabric of truth, woven in the looms of Heaven.

I agree very much with Matchbook. While at first blush it would seem wonderful.. after consideration I would have to say no as well.

I wonder if someone in a coma would be experiencing an eternal lucid dream?? (I would like to think so)

"real" life is a pointless term in my mind. lucid dream life can be just as real, and if one was to spend an eternity in a lucid dream they would likely be able to grow in ways that could never even be imagined in "real" life. just think of how much there is to lucid dreaming that none of us may ever know. now think of spending an eternity in a lucid dream state and how much you would be able to explore and grow. you would certainly grow more as a person in a lucid dream than you ever could in "real" life. if there are endless possibilities in lucid dreams, it means there is an endless ability to grow and expand your mind.

however, assuming dream characters are all in your mind, it might get a little boring not being able to interact with anyone. but then again, with an eternity of lucid dreaming, i'm sure you'd figure many new aspects of lucid dreaming that would allow for plenty of interaction.

the fact that it isn't "real" steers most people away from choosing an eternity of lucid dreaming, but lucid dreaming is just as real as anything. what makes an accomplishment in "real" life any better? just the idea that it has actually happened, as opposed to it just happening in a dream. but how do we know what is actually real?

hopefully you can understand the message i'm trying to get across here, it's kinda hard for me to put into words. plus it's late and i'm tired and i'm rambling and bye.

Nope, real life is better than lucid dreaming. By far.

That's a good question. There's no way we could be sure that the life in this "real world" actually is real. However, how I see it is that we can sometimes know what isn't real. In a lucid dream we know that we're dreaming and therefore we know that it's not real.

I've sometimes thought of something like layered dreams. I mean that we might just be sleeping in a greater reality and dreaming this reality, just like we sleep in this reality and dream our dreams. While dreaming we think that it's real, but at the moment we wake up or become lucid we know that it's just a dream. Maybe we wake up from this reality when we die, or maybe we can even become lucid here.

I don't really know, but it's fun to make up theories anyway

However, my point is that we want to have something "real". As long as something doesn't tell us that this isn't real, we think that it is, and therefore we want it. Aargh, this is so hard to explain!

I think eternal LD would be one of the most boring things (and frustrating) you would never be able to have proper conversations, everyone would just be a construct made by you. In fact now that i really think about it i cant think of anything worse, id get so lonely
