I'm a bit confused as to how I should be proceeding?

      Okay, the facts:

      - been dreaming journaling for about a year in the hopes of LDing
      - had first lucid 26th September 2013
      - watch a video that says finger counting is a good, simple reality check
      - start reality checking daily
      - had second lucid on the 8th October 2013 as a result of in dream reality check
      - had third lucid 6th November 2013, induced by the same reality checks

So, I guess I'm going well, but I feel a bit lost. There's so much info on Dream Views that I just don't know where to start honing my focus.

I'm a bit lost by all these induction techniques I keep hearing about. On top of that I'm a really ordinary sleeping, it takes AGES (an hour on average probably) for me to switch off in bed and fall asleep. So yeah, I need a bit of clarity (and less crazy, dream related acronyms ).

      Any advice would be great!

Hi there. I think my response to your post would simply be. Be clear. It sounds like the checks your doing and your journalling is working for you, your having Lucids. Id stick with that, until either its not working for you, or.... you become curious about other methods of how to have lucids. Why do too much at once?

Furthermore whats it really about for you? lucid dreaming? What do you want from it? I like to choose my goals and then aim towards that. This can also keep me motivated with doing reality checks etc etc.

It sounds to me like your on a good track, slowly and slowly your profficency with lucid dreaming will just build up and build up.
For me it was a quite natural progression what to work on. First i wanted longer lucids, then i wanted more stable lucids, then i wanted more control, then i wanted to speak to characters, then i wanted to teleport, then i wanted to shape shift and so on and so forth!

I hope you find the path that excites you the most!

Hello, TooManyChoices! Your technique seems to be working for you, so you have two options here (IMO): you can either keep working on it (and then I'd suggest you read this), or you can choose a different technique and see if it works even better for you (and, if that's the case, those are the other three main techniques: WILD, DEILD and MILD).

As for all the acronyms, I hear ya! It's just way too confusing sometimes! Thankfully, sivason made a good acronym list for us! I have it bookmarked, just in case I need it.

^^ This may be an echo of the last two posts, TooManyChoices, but I suggest that you choose to step away from all the information available and keep up work on your own. If you must have information to push forward, I suggest you read LaBerge's book: Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming, as it will clearly explain those acronyms (the ones that matter, anyway), and the basics of what to do with them -- all without the more creative stuff that tends to be piled onto the foundations of LD'ing on these forums.

      Good luck!

Try different techniques and find what works best for you. Dont try to learn all at once pick a technique your going to try that day.
It took me 2 weeks to try different techniques and find which is best for me for the long run. Now i just do mental reality checks, practice ada and every time i wake up a night i fall asleep only thinking of lucid dreaming. I have usually 3-6 lucid dreams a week.

Thanks all. I'm probably just way too impatient! Having put it in a timeline like that though, I guess after a year of journaling with no lucids, to one a month for the last 3 months isn't bad. It's like a drug though! I just want more!

Yeah I don't want to beat a dead horse here, but it sounds like you are doing all the right things. I have found over the years that when I am trying to do all the different kind of techniques I end up just losing sleep and my LD count goes down. Just keep up with your journal and everything will just come naturally eventually.
