I'm wondering if anyone can help me understand something strange that happened in a lucid dream last night.
For much of the LD (which I think went for about 10 mins), I had this strange sensation of spinning to my left. The feeling is one that most people will be familar with - it's the after-effect you get when you (in real life) spin around on your feet really quickly for a while, and then stop moving. You know, that dizzy, disoriented feeling like the world is still spinning in one direction?
In my lucid dream it made it nearly impossible for me focus my vision directly ahead of me or even move in a straight line. At one point, I tried to fly to the moon, but this spinning effect made my goal pretty much impossible because I couldn't even focus my sight on it!
Does anyone have any idea as to why this might have happened?
Note that I didn't (nor do I ever) spin around in my lucid dreams. I always use the technique of rubbing my hands together if I wish to stabilise the dream instead.
When I eventually woke up, I found I was lying in my right side, and that my right shoulder and neck were in a fairly painful position. My immediate urge was to move to my left to relieve the pain. I wonder if this might be responsible for the effect in my dream?
I kinda doubt it though...
