Thread: Need help

Hi. I have been trying to have a lucid dream for months.

I have had a MILD once but other than that nothing.

I have been trying to WILD with no prior sleep and I get into Hypnagogic Hallucinations I feel heavy my heart starts pounding I start seeing weird shapes
and it feels like my bed is swaying. All of these sensations will get really intense and I feel like i'm just seconds away from slipping into a dream but then after a little while (No idea how long though.) They will fade away and I will realize my eyes are open and i'm not dreaming I've tried visualizing a dream scene but nothing happens.

Its really frustrating to feel so close to a LD and have it slip away

So what am I doing wrong here, any advice you guys have is much appreciated

For starters, you'll have a far greater chance at a successful WILD if you combine it with WBTB. My understanding is that WILDING with no prior sleep is impossible for most of us.

Are you sure you're not dreaming when you realize your eyes are open? One transition sign is seeing your bedroom even though your eyes are closed.

What these two lovely people above me said. You also need to do a reality check after a WILD attempt just in case you've woken up in a dream. False awakenings can happen a lot with WILDs, so you'd better watch out for those!

I am pretty sure I'm awake when I start seeing my room because when I see it I do a reality check and it always turns out I'm awake. It also just doesn't feel like a dream I've only ever had one lucid dream, That was actually my other question I'm not sure if it was a MILD or a WILD.

what happened was.

I was lying in bed trying to MILD and I just couldn't fall asleep it was like four in the morning and I was having an awful time trying to fall asleep and suddenly I was standing in my living room I was aware from the start it was a dream (I still did reality checks just in case) after that I just kinda wandered around the house getting used to being lucid and then I woke up just one second I was dreaming the next I was back in bed and about twenty minutes had passed of course I couldn't fall back asleep after that because I was so happy to have finally had a LD.

I will try to WBTB tonight is there anything I can do to make keeping my eyes shut easier because that is my main problem is if i relax completely my eyes drift open

A sleeping mask is usually the best solution for keeping your eyes closed. The light pressure on your eyelids keeps them closed.

Yep, a sleeping mask is a far better solution than SuperGlue.
