      Premonitions?

OK, I don't really know where this belongs, but here goes...

I had a really weird dream the other night, not like my usual ones (I'll update my diary soon if anyone cares I've been away from the net for a while and have a notebook with several in). It was more of an image, like a clue in a puzzle. Then it dawned on me what it meant. The only trouble is, I don't think I'm supposed to mention the details until it happens (yes, this sounds weird I'm sure) so I won't give too much away at the moment. But, what I'm wondering is, does anyone else experience things like this? Is there any sort of explanation? The message itself made way too much sense, and involves things I don't think I would have known otherwise.

I suppose the other question is, should I take the advice?

I've had premonitions my entire life. Oftentimes I'll have a dream about something mundane, like getting in trouble with my parents for sneaking out the window, or getting a package in the mail, and the next day the exact thing will happen. The messages are usually vague and the events happen before I have time to interpret them, or do anything differently than I would had I not known. Sometimes after I fail to prevent something bad happening that I had dreamed would happen I get really angry at myself, and end up much more upset than I would be had I not had any control of the situation.

I told my dad once that this sort of thing happened to me all the time, and he said it was really because you dream several times a night, and when an event happens in reality that matches a dream, you instantly remember the dream vividly, no matter how long ago you dreamt it, and it seems like a psychic experience when really it's just a coincidence. I told him I didn't believe him. When such a thing happens, I remember the dream in the morning, write it down, and it happens later that day.

The last time this happened was one week ago. I had a dream that something terrible had happened involving my girlfriend, and when I woke up I was really upset and depressed. She wasn't answering her phone so I decided to go out and have a few drinks with my friends to take my mind off it, and when I told my friend about my dream he told me that she had cheated on me the night before, at a party that I had no idea she was even at. Imagine my despair at finding this out twice, the second time with mixed-up serotonin levels.

This last event is why I decided to pursue dream lucidity more seriously. It was just too weird to ignore.

edit: forgot to answer your question!

Well, you should reflect on the event in a waking state. If the premonition indicates that you should do something totally crazy, you might want to think twice before acting on it. Sometimes, a dream can be just a dream, and simply knowing about it can change the way events will unfold. However, if the premonition indicates that you make some small to moderate sacrifice or go out of your way to do something, I say you should definitely take the advice. Worst case scenario if the advice gets you in trouble you can just say that you had a really weird feeling that it had to be done. My friends know that I have my head in the clouds and occasionally do or say really weird things, so they usually don't hold it against me. Without more information on the dream though, it's hard to say what you should do. However, you should keep this in mind: imagine you take the advice, and everything works out perfectly. How awesome would that be? It's worth taking a risk, to say the least, if you have the chance to predict the future and actually act on it!

OK mate. I usually get wierd sortof deja-vu type things where know what will happen next from dreams or I dream something, just an image and see it the next day. But this was so different to anything I've had before.

Look's like I'm going to be giving this a go then. I'll let ya know what comes of it

Funny you should make this post, because not more then 2 hours ago I woke up from a dream where I dreamt something that came true.

In the dream I had asked my mom about dinner, and she mentioned that she wasn't hungry and wasn't going to eat until later. So I woke up, went downstairs, asked my dad about dinner, and he said my mom had just called and said she wasn't hungry, and that she was probably going to eat later.

I know that's not exactly what you mean, but it struck me as odd. I'd definitely be interested in hearing how it goes.
