      Open intent: What would you ask your dream to show you?

      Robert Waggoner did a lucid dreaming talk in my area yesterday evening and something he said really jumped out at me.

      Most of us use fixed intent when controlling our dreams. I want to fly a dragon, and so forth. He brought up that this was limiting in a way to what you already are, and suggested shifting more toward using open intent in your lucid dreams -- directing the dream in a more open ended way to go farther with it. Some examples he gave were asking the dream:

      Show me unconditional love
      Show me something important for me to see
      Show me some art to paint

      I'm always getting hung up on accomplishing a specific task I set out for myself, or meeting someone, or improving a skill. I want to try this out.

      So what would you want to ask your dream?

      I wonder if that would just result in a feeling, or a manifestation of myself/others that I need to forgive... Either would be nice.

      I'm reading Robert Waggoner's book at the moment... he does have some interesting ideas!

      Show me what I ultimately want most. Is it peace? Chaos? To be better than humans or to remain as one of them? (though the formers unlikely to happen) Perhaps its love?

      Then I think I'd ask whether or not I consider myself to be an ultimately good person?
