This post isn't as much a question, as it is a discussion. I've used mantras consistently throughout my journey in lucid dreaming, and I even use them outside of dreaming as well; for example, I've used them for the practical use of an alarm clock so that I can wake up naturally.
An interesting situation to be discussed though, is what happened yesterday! For the past few weeks, I've been oversleeping no matter how much sleep I get the previous night. I'll get a good nine hour sleep and still ignore my alarm clock, no matter what. But yesterday night, I went to sleep with my alarm clock on 5:30 AM, and as a back up plan I started repeating a mantra (I wake up at five in the morning). I repeated it until I fell asleep, and at around 5:26 AM, I woke up from a dream naturally.
It was very surprising that my mantra worked when I had only repeated it for one night, and that I woke up just before my alarm clock went off and not just at five like I had repeated. My theory is that I said to wake up at five in the morning, but I really intended to wake up at 5:30 as my alarm clock was set. But still, it was amazing or coincidental that my mantra had an effect within one night of repetition.
Like I said, this topic is much for discussion rather than answering my question. Does anyone else have interesting stories on mantras or anything?
