How long did it take you to become Lucid and to progress having more lucids?

I ask this because I really don't think I'm having much luck, I really thought after at least 8 months I would have had at least more than a false awakening and being blind in a dream for about 3 seconds before waking up, I don't think I'm making much progress, I haven't written in my dream journal for a while and when I do it doesn't seem to help me much, MILD rarely has success and my dream recall remains unchanged with or without journaling my motivation is very low to the point of almost quitting again, did anyone else go though this and how did you get over this?

I just had my third so I'm not to experienced but try different methods of you are sticking to one. The first time I tried FILD I got two that night. Try experimenting with a method for a week and then try a different one. Can anyone else help out? I am also curious.

Maybe change your habits of scribbling down your dreams into your journal. Have a small diary in arms reach of your bed at all times... if you awaken after a dream, instantly jot down some key notes about it if you want to continue sleeping right away. I do this without opening my eyes. Sometimes it's hard to read anything, sometimes it's quite good. Most of the time this helps spark my recall of the whole dream scene, even if I only wrote down three or four key terms, like "industrial place" "snipers" "some famous person" "manhunt"... you get the idea. Most of the time the whole scene and plot then rush back into my mind. I still have to write down the whole dream when I get up, but it is easily possible to remember 3-4 dreams per night with this technique for me.

Also, write it down while still lying in your bed. Try to move as little as possible, do as little as possible while grabbing that diary and the pen, and start writing it down. The more epic dreams or meaningful ones, I write down in every detail I remember, mid night if I have to. For me the diary helped a lot to notice that I have far more dreams than I suspected.
