How often do things not go as you expected in your dream?

So my question is basically this: Think back to your normal dreams (not lucid) how often do you have a "change of plans" because of some obstacle? For example: in your dream you're walking down a street, you turn a corner and there's a giant elephant in the way, you [change plans / feel unsuccessful / are disappointed / etc...] and decide to (you take a moment to think and make a new decision) [jump over the elephant / go back down a different street / shoot the elephant with a bazooka / other]. Your answers may help with some theories I'm working on, thanks. =]

... Last night I had a happy dream about a happy small adopted kid... then someone told me he was in hiding and the dream ended up with me escaping Nazis. So yeah, happens to me.
