Thread: I suck.

I don't get it. I'm horrible at lucid dreaming now. I meditate, HILD, and WILD pretty much every night, and I still suck at lucid dreaming. I also perform reality checks during the day. Can someone help me?

I also use to have 2-5 LDs a week, if that means anything.

I think that your Higher Mind, or Subconscious Mind as the Materialists call it, has cut you off from Lucid Dreaming. Why? Well, perhaps you should read the Essay I wrote on "Lucid Dreaming Rules and Ethics": http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19909

There could be any number of reasons. Perhaps you're trying too hard and getting frustrated. Maybe you've gotten too used to lucid dreaming, and lost some motivation. Maybe it's time to try out different techniques. There's a tutorial in the tutorial section on breaking a dry spell, which may be of interest to you.

I recently ended a long dry spell, and I've found dream induction mp3's to be useful, as well as altering my sleep schedule (a WBTB about an hour before you normaly get up, and then staying up about 60 minutes, is supposed to work quite well).

Hey don't insult your self that only makes it harder. I have lots of trouble with LD but if you keep with it you'll get them.

Isn't anybody here the least concerned that what happened to this guy could happen to ourselves next. The guy was having 2 or 3 Lucid Dreams a week! The guy was a Major League Expert at Lucid Dreaming, and suddenly, for reasons that the guy is very reluctant to explain, or for reasons he's still in denial about, IT IS ALL CUT OFF.

Why?

What did he do wrong?

The Advice to "cheer up" and "just try harder" is simply stupid! The guy must have done something seriously wrong, and doing more of the same is certainly not going to help. He needs to identify what his mistake was.

And it wouldn't hurt us to know what he did wrong, either. You think somebody would be just a bit curious.

First of all Leo, who the hell are you to call everyones advice stupid? Beacse I honestly find yours to fit into the "stupid" catagory many times, but I have the maturity not to be rude and condesending in public to you. Secondly, people do go into dry spells for no reason other than trying too hard, being too hard on themsleves, or just having stress in daily life. I know that I go through random periods where lucid dreamign just stops no matter what I do, but it alwaysd, always comes back. He probalby has done nothing wrong at all, except for puttin himself down. If I were you, I woudl just keep a positive additude, know that your lucid dreams will come back, and just dotn worry abotu them. Try takign a break form it all togetehr for a week or two, this way you cna regenrate and just start over and try again then. Dont let it bother you, Im sure you did nothing wrong. Just give it some time and dont focos on it right now.

Stress is stress no matter what the source is. If your body/mind is telling you to take a break then I would stop arguing and start enjoying. Relax. Get back to the basics. Clear yourself in body, mind and soul.
Hasn't worked for me yet, but then, I am still working on the relax and clearing part.

You're wrong, and this is why. Its happened before. It's naive to suppose that suddenly these Lucid Experts become so good and so practiced and so expert that it starts to make them anxious and nervious. What? Does it happen to musicians, athletes, airline pilots, taxi drivers....? No! In all of these other fields the more time put in, the better they get. Why should it only be with Lucid Dreaming that after a certain point -- WHAM, the screen falls. No. Something is being done wrong. There is a button being pushed that stops the whole thing.

You can call ME stupid all you want, but you are just rationalizing excuses and delaying the inevitable. I may not always be right, but at least I AM THINKING. And all you can demonstrate is the villager mentality of chasing the Intellectual with your torch and pitchfork for upsetting your quiet village mentality.

Stress is their Red Herring. This Lucid Dreamer had no stress until after Lucid Dreaming was cut off. They've decided to call switch the Horse and the Cart and turn the Effect into the Cause because they don't want to face the Reality of the Situation which is that to the Higher Mind there can be something unpardonable in Lucid Dreaming which must be stopped with the very heavy hand of the Subconscious. I think that too many people have gotten so very good at learning the Techniques of Dream Control, whereby they destroy so much Subconscious and Superconscious Dream Content, that the Higher Mind become exasperated and simply refuses any longer to put up with the predations of these selfish and hedonistic individuals.

Hmm...i very rarely have lucid dreams...sometimes, my recall takes a complete slide...in that i might not dream about ANYTHING for a week.
What's my Higher mind got to do with that?
You know, i think people are entitled to believe whatever they want to believe. I don't think lack of lucid dreaming is a punishment for hedonism. Far better to live a free, hedonistic lifestyle in the waking and dreaming world, than to suddenly realise you haven't lived at all!

Dude, cheering up/motivation and trying too hard are things that are very important to succed in lucid dreaming. Even low self esteem can decrease your possibilitys of succeding at anything.

I maybe believe in your theory, but that doesnt mean that these arent factors that lead you to a dry spells, and doing something wrong isnt the only one either.

I think you got all wrong your ideas, i think its ok for you to believe in this stuff but not always it has to do with your idea of subconscious judgment karma and the Higher Mind.

It would be simple to say that Dreams are messages from the Higher Mind, but actually, it would probably be more correct to say that Dreams show us our Place in the Higher Mind -- the level we are at. A person can determine where they are Spiritually simply by looking around his or her Dream Scene and seeing what the company is like.

Not all the time, but sometimes, this great spread of Dream Space that I call the Higher Mind actually puts forward special dreams with special meanings, and these ARE indeed messages.

What I have found is that often Lucidity is bestowed before such a Dream so that it can be received well by both the Conscious Mind and the Primitive Dreamers Mind as well.

some people get adicted to the feeling of Lucid Dreaming and then they begin to bring it again and again into the ordinary places and scenes of the Dream World, disrupting and destroying what the Higher Mind had already created to be there.

So we have it that it seems that the Higher Mind simply cuts people off from Lucid Dreaming, whether as a Punishment, or simply to keep them from causing any further trouble, is up to interpretation.

Ah, i think i'm with you now...
But tell me, ifi keep dreaming of the sea, and that's a message from my Higher mind, then there's obviously something i'm not noticing or learning, so what could it be? Very often the sea is alarming to me...

Leo has points to consider, but it's not always an ethical issue. Sometimes, people just get away with the shit they do. Unless at least, our scope of justice is too narrow to see the big picture. You may feel the world is unbalanced, but perhaps there is that little space for a calm acceptance underneath.

I personally do not usually consider my source of dreams from a higher mind that's an independent entity from me. I just know that it was processed from a deep well of imaginative power within my mind, which may or may not connect to a spiritual mind. From nearly hundreds of dream recall entries and some lucid dreams, whilst I only suspect that there is something spiritual involved, it's often very much just us.

But cheer up! And don't try too hard! Oh wait, that was already said....

I guess if you can't LD, just go along with dream recall for the moment, it's still a healthy awareness of what you dream. And maybe some interpretation.
