      Finally!

I had taken a couple months of a break training for becoming lucid, due to being in the middle of a large move to a new state. A couple nights ago out of nowhere I had my first lucid dream since I started training! It was so strange because I recognized it without problem, which has never been the case. I was parked by this large body of water and my car started sliding into the water, and once it was submerged, it morphed into this human like figure and crawled down into the depths of the water on all fours. That's when I realized and said out loud, "this is a dream"
I looked at my left hand and saw that it was kind of wobbly, like parts of it would get really fat then go back to regular, alternating to different spots on my hand. I reminded myself not to get excited, and jumped up and down a few times just to test my control, but then I went into another dream where I was back to not knowing I'm dreaming. And in that dream I was telling my mom that I had the lucid dream. I'm not sure exactly why it switched so fast, and suggestions?

Perhaps one dream ended and another began? I dont remember when they stop because its like a blank space of the night. Idk, maybe im wrong but just a thought!

It was probably a false awakening with a little problematic taste↘
I can offer you a simple yet effective solution to that:
      - Everytime when you wake up or get up from bed do a mindful reality checks or handy set of them

↘ - Your False Awakening had one major factor. There was no bed or you just don't remember part in which you got up from bed . In Waking Life telling your mom that you had lucid dream after waking up would be thing aswell, so that's why probably dream ended up like this

This is kind of rare type of false awakening so probably you won't experience it again anytime soon.

Is the missing the bed and actual "awakening" why it was a rare case? Lol the whole thing was very strange. I've heard if you get too excited that you will knock yourself out of lucidity, but I kept myself calm so I'm not sure why I was only lucid for a few seconds

I belive it's rare case of false awakening because you told your mom that you just had a lucid dream (So you thought that you woke up from lucid dream)

Being calm is one thing and keeping dream from tearing itself apart is another
While lucid being relaxed, stressless and calm surely helps alot but you need to use stabilization techniques during them or otherwise they will end fast in most cases

You should read official DreamViews Stabilization Technique tutorial and apply it to use in next lucid dream and everything should turn out nicely
      I'm back! Again? Uhhh..
