sleep paralysis & retaining consciousness / high vibrations of mind

      Hi fellow DVers,

As i try to wait out for my body to sleep, and continue retain my consciousness.
i will easily get into SP/REM Atonia? to some extend. where it is difficult to move your limbs. Not that i am afraid of sp, it feels nice.

however i always slip through into unconsciousness... sometimes with or without entering into a dream, and would hit a high vibrational state of mind that brings me back awake..
one instance: i flew/shot up from earth to space, and the vibrations grew very strong, a split second of realizing i am dreaming, and i wake up.
its like mind couldnt handle that high vibrational state.. so i woke.

I will be grateful, if i have some guide or advice of what is happening?
am i doing it correctly and what i should do?

      from the SP sticky thread:
      http://www.dreamviews.com/wake-initi...explained.html

      member sageous mentioned:
People who are talking about their experiences in SP are really talking about their experiences in NREM sleep, which can include the vibrations, sensory deprivation, and other assorted bells and whistles associated with SP these days. This is sort of a shame, because consciously navigating NREM sleep is an adventure unto itself (and, BTW, the place the Tibetan sleep yogis like to visit) and to belittle it by calling it SP is to miss out on an otherwise good thing.

Are you trying to WILD during your first sleep of the night or are you performing a WBTB?

If you are trying during the first sleep of the night you will encounter the NREM, which is what it sounds like you are going through. If you attempt after a WBTB and a few REM cycles, you will have a much better chance

      thanks for the advice, chewnie91!

guess i was doing it on the first sleep.
i should pay more attention to doing it after a WBTB

though im still interested to know more about:

      1) why i am hitting a high vibrational state? like a brick wall that hits me back to reality.
is my mind not ready to handle that state?

      2) what is special about the NREM? a relam for spiritual work? Tibetan sleep yogis?

i actually read the tibetian book of dream and sleep, did not know it was within the NREM.
guess i need to read up more on NREM

      1) The high vibrational state that you are hitting is just what happens during those specific brain wave frequencies. In order to "navigate" that state of mind, you have to have to have a very high sense of self awareness. It is a rigorous journey that few chose to embark upon, but i've heard you can find some very interesting things out about yourself in NREM.

      2) I have not personally done much work in the NREM stage, it is definitely on my list of challenges to tackle one day.

According to astral projection adept Robert Bruce, the vibrational state is the energetic process of the subtle energy body separating from the etheric body, which usually occurs at the onset of sleep paralysis. Beginners generally experience very strong vibrations, but over time they gradually soften and eventually seem to disappear, at least in my experience and the experiences of many others. I believe this is because as one's energy body system develops, the vibratory state of one's energy body increases, so what was at first a strong and coarse vibratory state becomes more refined and less noticeable.
