      Strange Voices

Sometimes, when I go to my bed and lie down before I go to sleep, I can "hear" these voices. They are voices of people I know and they just say random things. I don't exactly hear them, I think them, but not forcibly. They just pop up, I don't try to hear them. I had this happen to me dozens of times and I was wondering if anyone else gets this too.

I'm not sure if I've ever actually heard voices, but I definitely have heard sounds that didn't really exist while trying to go to sleep. One time I thought I heard a rapping on my window, which lead to a series of false awakenings -- very weird.

Yep, definitely heard voices, though only during that stage where you're slowly drifting off to sleep, and just before that. When you say "hear voices,"many people think of it literally, as in, with your ears, and noises around you, but it is all in our heads, isn't it?

What tends to annoy me is when my mind repeats what I've said during the day. I remember certain conversations with people that I've had through the day, and my mind kinda plays back the tape in my head. I then go into analysing my words, debating whether it sounded effective and right, and/or what I should have said.

Another thing I hear is absolute total randomness. It's my voice in my head, during semi-sleep state, putting the strangest concoction of words together, and stringing a sentance out of it. It's proper weird. The words I put together do not mean a thing, it's just totally random, but I can't control it, lol.

I learn to live with it. It's like talking myself to sleep sometimes. I never hear anyone elses' voice though, only mine.

Yeah when I say hear I mean in my head.
I actually never hear my own voice. Only other people's. Last night I heard my mom's and my brother's friend's. When I first hear them, it seems like they don't make sense, but when I analyze the words, they actually do say things, but they are always stupid things about clearing the table or stuff like that.

      The voices are fun!
Yesterday, i think they said something about a backwards analasys with aprons!
      Eh.
      Yeah!
Even when i'm reading a book when i'm tired, i notice that i've just stopped reading and listening to voices!
They don't annoy me that much, though.

Hey i think I know what you mean. It doesnt happen to me very often and it may not be as....extreme as your case is but I think its the same deal. Occasionally when I lay down to go to sleep and right before I seem to drift off to sleep I hear a voice or sometimes it sounds like someone calling my name. It never seems like a real voice only a voice inside my head but its enough most of the time to wake me right back up. Im not sure what causes it but It could be the brain shutting down and entering the hypnotic imagery stage.

Audial hallucinations is one of the first steps in WILD, and happens frequently if you're dropping quickly to a deep level of sleep.

Yes, audible hallucinations are very common during the initial stages of sleep.

This happens to me quite often, too. These strange thoughts seem to make sense as they occur. If I become more awake and think back on them, they are either very hard to remember correctly or make no sense at all.

Last night as I was going to sleep I heard some voices too, one of them said "Hi Kevin" and I can't remember the other one. Then some weird random crashing noise was going on. Whenever I actually concentrated on it happening, it stopped. But it was pretty rad.

There are at least 2-3 types of voices:

      1) those that you may hear during WILD, they sound like they are real voices from outside

      2) there are voices/sounds/music you may hear while just laying in bed. Those replace the usual high pitched humming in your ears.

      3) it's possible to induce this state by starting to think about it: start an inner dialogue with someone and there's a good chance his voice will persist. Works only when you are in bed, relaxed
