      WILD Question

Is it safe to assume that you don't successfully WILD if you're intending to be fully conscious throughout the "passage" into an OBE or LD?

WILD sounds almost exactly like an ancient Taoist practice known as "Quiet Sitting". I did successfully OBE once from full consciousness while practicing it. The major difference is the absence of, or at least being aware of, vibrations in the limbs. If they're the primary "trigger" of an OBE in WILD, I'm at a loss. I can feel them in my hands and feet, but can't get them amplified much beyond the forearms and calfs.

I did, however, notice a "dropoff" of sorts in today's WILD after about an hour... noticing it only in the way you would if you just caught yourself dozing off. I believe this was triggered by removing my conscious "thoughts" of monitoring my body, to "getting into/feeling/drifting" into the hypnagogics.

      Anybody got anything on this?

This is what WILD is, passing directly from being awake into the dream state without loss of conciousness.

It is most likely related to "Quiet Sitting". Can you recommend a book for me, I'd like to learm more about that.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

Of course, Seeker - "Opening the Dragon Gate" by Kaiguo Chen

Personally, I'd have my library get it for me, since it's a lengthy biography, and only a single paragraph provides details on "Quiet Sitting". Great book though, and I highly reccommend it.

Of course, you'd be the one to know about OBE... but perhaps I could have been clearer in my original post. What I meant to infer was the type of consciousness we use to enter OBE.

I'm fairly confident that we do not operate in these altered states of consciousness with the same mode we operate in during our waking hours. Neurological research has discovered two separate and distinct thought processes.

One, which we use in daily life is resident in the left hemisphere, and handles cognition analytically... interpreting symbology like reading and mathematics, simple comprehension, etc.

The other, which we use in dreams and other "anomalous cognition" is a right-hemispherical function which processes data holistically (literally "as a whole"), such as when we admire a painting or listen to music. This type of mental function is more "feeling" than "analyzing".

I'm somewhat familiar with the latter due to my studies in anomalous cognition (Remote Viewing), and I feel that I can detect the difference. I am also of the opinion that this is the mode more suitable to obtain an OBE state.

"Thinking about how one thinks" is a difficult enough proposition, but do you think I may be on to something? (no pun intended).

      Thanks,
      Legend

You might want to discuss that in the Beyond Dreaming area (please do not repeat this thread!!)
