      Rules of the dreamworld.

Has anyone noticed rules which it seems as though you must follow or if you can break them then the results tend to be unpleasant?

For example: for some reason it's like i have to hide my lucidity from most dcs. I can sort of hint at it but if i do something blatant like blurt out, "This is a dream!!" Strange shit always happens which results in termination of the dream. There is often a sudden loud ringing or static noise accompanied by the evironment around me snapping into a black to lightgrey static-like/fuzzy void, with shadowy outlines of tall and slender humanoids gathered around me feeling as if they are glaring into me and with raw and unpleasant emotions radiating from them like heat being felt from the sun. Usually there are at least 5-10 of them visible though sometimes it has been large crowds. When this happens everything is frozen including myself and the strange entities and i tend to wake up after around 1-5 minutes of this. It was a little scary at first but mostly just really strange and alien feeling.

For another example, my friend claims that almost all of his dreams even when lucid are completely outside of his concious controll as if watching himself play a role in a movie where everything has been predetermined. Often accompanied by strong deja vu and sense of what is about to happen next, any attempt to deviate from the script is sort of fought back by his subc to deviate as little as possible with main plot points happening anyways. Trying to use foreknowledge to deviate from the script results in either little to no change, and any change is usually for the worst.

There are more but this is starting to look a bit lengthy so i'll stop here for now. Does anyone else experience similar or other dream taboo which are either impossible to do or result in negative or strange consequences?

I think I understand what you're talking about, I sort of get that feeling of pre-scripted events, but to me it feels that once the mind is set on something it's just difficult to change it unless you have good self-control and can let go of your first impression.

So for example you already decided that you're going down the stairs in the dream, you change your mind but there are still stairs everywhere.

Personally I have a really frustrating trend of not being able to find exactly what I'm looking for, I decide I need an object and I can go through a hundred objects that are really similar to what I want but not what I actually want, I think it's because my mind is in a state of searching and so what I get is searching rather than finding.

There are a lot of subtle things going on in our heads.

Is your friend sure he is lucid dreaming? Because that happens to me all the time where the dream reels me back in if I start to question things either by distracting me or by making me feel tired in the dream... I wouldn't consider those lucids yet though because I'm not aware (but becoming aware yes). The two lucid dreams I've had the dream could have no impact on my awareness... however I haven't tried to change anything in dreams yet because they have been so short so I don't yet know what will happen once i do.
