      Lucid dreaming helps me overcome bouts of mild depression I have from time-to-time.

      There's all sorts of pleasurable activities I can enjoy when lucid dreaming so with it my life never feels completely hopeless. It helps me stay optimistic about life and back up from my down so to speak.

      Lucid dreams can feel just as real and convincing as waking life - it doesn't matter that you cognitively know it is your own mental creation and "just a dream", you will still be affected by it just as if it were waking life.
      This means that if you challenge yourself in things that you find difficult in waking life (which will be much easier in lucid dreams since the knowledge that it's all a dream makes you much bolder), then it will carry over to your waking life, and make it much easier for you to continue working on the same thing while awake.

      Lucid dreams may not necessarily completely solve a problem in waking life for you, but they certainly give you a massive headstart;
      I would say that a very good lucid dream can make pretty much any problem in waking life at least 200% easier to deal with (in other words, three times easier than it would have normally been), and probably even more than that.

      Personally i've never felt any different in waking life for more than a couple hours after an ld. But i agree that lds are just as real as reality so you can face things and learn things as if it was real life. I've had lucid dreams where i really communicated on a deep level with my subconscious but most lds i just mess about like it's gta.
