Lightbulb Accessing real life from a lucid dream?

      For example, dream-typing:

      http://blag.xkcd.com/2007/05/28/tools-for-dream-typing/

I'm wondering if these types of connections to the outside world while dreaming are proven or even possible, at least without waking yourself up trying to type on a keyboard in RL, or even possibly drawing on a tablet, etc.

I'm not sure if there's any official (scientific) term for this. I haven't come across anything such as attempts or research so far. Has anyone else?

I would love to be able to access real life live from a dream. This could be useful in finding out the lengths of certain dreams, or even directly translating ideas, you know in case I got some EUREKA during a dream that I wanted to write down immediately.

One thing I've wanted to try is filming myself during my sleep, but this would be much more awesomer

Shouldn't work under normal conditions, simply because of sleep paralysis. You can control your eyes and your breath when paralysed, but not your hands.

People do move in their sleep though. Maybe that's because it's during NREM?

The sleep paralysis is a lie. Seriously, I'm barely ever paralysed. Everyone takes it way too seriously. I still don't think it would be possible, however, because the only people that could so such are sleep-wakers, which is a borderline disorder. The experiment to see how fast time goed in sleep vs awake is that you move your eyes side to side every set interval of time, and someone else awake has a watch and compares how long you think 10 seconds is to how long it really is. It turns out to be fairly accurate too.
Willing to talk about/listen to anything you have to say.

Of course it's obviously not a lie and many of us, including myself, probably have found themselves awake and paralyzed more than once, especially those that do WILD or try to OBE.

Dunno about scientifically proven, but I has, around 3 times, hit family members when I can't wake up from a lucid. It could easily be a FA tough <.<
