      Need a little bit more....

Hello. I haven't done much LD. When I was younger I had a couple of dreams where I knew I was dreaming, and then I actually read about it a couple of years ago and had a really great LD a couple nights after that. I was completely aware and determining what was happening. I've had one other one after that, but it was a little scary ( I kinda made it scary on purpose though!)

Anyway, I've really been wanting to read up on it and get into it because it seems to come easy for me. So I was on this website last night before bed and went to sleep about an hour later. In my dream that night I was actually explaining LD to a friend of mine. I was even telling her about how my cue to myself is to look at my hand, and I was demonstrating that for her in my dream! But I didn't go that extra step and actually realize what was going on (the mind is such a funny thing). It just didn't click that, "hey, this is your cue." Anyway, I wasn't even planning on having a LD last night, but I guess just thinking about it for a bit was enough to almost get me there. Sooooo.........

The technique that I learned was to look at your hand throughout the day as often as you can remember, and say something like, "I'm dreaming" while looking at your hand. I guess this works really well for me. I've been doing it ALL DAY today, and I've been thinking about LD all day and talking about it all day. I'm positive I'm going to have one tonight, but I was wondering if anyone has been in a similiar situation as I was in last night. And if so, is there something you do or think about that will give you that little nudge that makes you go all the way? Maybe something you repeat to yourself during the day, or a phrase that you say that you've learned to bring into your dream that instantly gets you there? Maybe some kind of image?

I know I've only had 4 LD that I can remember, and 2 where I was controlling them, but they happened so easily and then my dream last night makes me think that I could for sure do it tonight. I would love some suggestions.

      Thanks

Hi there!, and welcome. Its cool to have lucids, isn´t? hehehe. Well you should start a journal of your dreams, see if they are repetitive or if you have somethings in your dreams wich would never happen in real life that always seem to appear in your dreams and train yourself to know that when you see them in the dream to trigger that question, "am I dreaming", you can browse the main pages to get more info or look in the tutorials section of the boards to get more adjusted for your journies. Keep it up and have great dreams .

Well, don't beat yourself because pretty much everyone who's had some success with LDing has had experiences like this. Not once, but twice I tried WILDing in my dreams but it didn't work. I've also had discussions with dream characters about LDing without a clue that I was in a dream. *does RC* Dang it.

Anyway, just keep doing your RCs, but I'd also recommend that any time you explain LDing to someone, keep that in mind. And if one RC fails, do a second one such as holding your nose and trying to breathe through it. That one always has worked for me.

Thanks guys. I've been exhausted the last couple nights, staying up late, getting up early, so I can't even remember my dreams at this point. Almost feels like I haven't slept in a few days. I've been doing RC's all over the place for the last couple days, and I'm going to bed early tonight, so we'll see what happens.

Anybody have anything they do before bed that's a ritual or just something you do now and then before you go to sleep that you feel helps with LD's?
