Lightbulb Dream Journal entries on DV without waking yourself up.

Okay so I was tired of writing down dreams and then typing them later on.

I found this app for your computer called F.lux (there is one called Twilight for Android, couldn't find one for Apple) that allows the screen to eliminate blue light.

Blue light is disruptive to sleep, it breaks down melatonin. Blue light has a dark side - Harvard Health

      https://justgetflux.com (F.lux download)

I can now type my dreams and go right back to bed no problem

Wow. Thank you for sharing this... had no idea about blue light being bad. As to f.lux - going to try it out. Anything to encourage dreams!

your phone emits that light as well.

I used to use just a notepad (without light) and write tags. Now I write tags on my phone and don't worry about the "blue light" because my recall usually pretty high.

You can on android as well. It still emits the "blue light" when the light is low. It is LED that drops your melatonin level. Of course that doesn't make you forget dreams, it just wakes you up, which is a time that it is "harder to remember". Do you see the difference? Harder to remember vs forget. So don't turn the light on until you know what you are going to write.

Wow. No wonder it's kinda hard to get back to sleep during the night. I use an alarm clock with a bright blue backlight to illuminate my DJ haha

When i wake from an LD, I just review the LD(s) for a minute or so then go back to sleep. If i do much more than that I have about a 10% chance of falling back to sleep. I suffer from chronic insomnia and the meds help but dont completely solve my issue. I have very good recall so i journal my LDs on my iPhone sometime in the morning or during the day. Not that im suggesting anyone do this, but it works for me.

I know f.lux is available on jailbroken Apple devices, I used to use it on my iPhone. Now I use blue-blocking glasses instead if I'm concerned about lights. I still have f.lux on my PC though, it's a simple free program that does the job nicely.
