Why not ??it shouldn't affect your sleep cycle that much |
Normally I sleep around 9 and have to wake up at 6. I plan on practicing FILD by waking up around 1 maybe. I fear doing this might mess up my sleep schedule, so should I try this? |

Oh ok then it that case, I will practice daily |
You sleep plenty and this wont take much time from you, go for it! You will love it |
I agree with the others - why not? |
Ok when I wake up, I sometimes splash myself with water a little bit since I have to pray when I wake up. Could doing this effect my chances of FILD working? |
Maybe, if it wakes you up too much. FILD normally requires a lot of sleepiness (only second to DEILD among the other WILD-class method). Try it, but if it wakes you too much, then do a different WILD-class method that requires more wakefulness - SSILD, regular WILD, VILD (visualization WILD), etc. |
When I try FILD, whenever I try to go back to sleep, I end up thinking about FILD and trying to motivate myself. Am I supposed to do this or should I just try to relax normally? |
Probably you should relax more and focus on starting falling asleep normally (especially with FILD, as I said usually requires more sleepiness). All forms of WILDing relay on you being able to at least fall asleep, so over-thinking it (while you do the attempt) might cause anxiety and lead to not being able to fall asleep. |
Thanks btw, what would be some good relaxation exercises, as when I try FILD, I end up being awake for a while and end up sleeping before trying FILD, as I focus on trying to get to sleep |
I just do the relaxation part of the WILD tutorial on this site (for all wild-class methods, if I need to). I mean, it's pretty basic and didn't always work for me at first - but now it always works, it just about having the right mindset, taking it step by step, and letting go of tension. |

How useful is reverse blinking? |
I mean, it might help if you need it (just to distract you and make it easier for your eyes to relax)... Helped me once or twice, when it was all new to me. But you don't really need it - somehow when you go to sleep normally you don't encounter issues like that, right? All wild-class methods (incl. FILD) are about falling asleep normally and then focusing on awareness and anchor (when your body is no longer in the way). So just relax and get into the mindset of falling asleep, and blinking, swallowing, turning, itching, and so on, will no longer be an issue. |
Yeah I definitely think it wouldn't hurt your nights' sleep. Maybe try around with the waking up times the first couple nights to get a feeling about what time might be the best for you?! And the other posts pretty much sum it up |
Oh btw, I tried reverse blinking, like I would normally blink with no time intervals and I didn't really fell like I was becoming tired, so I ended up quitting it. Is the way I did it the right way to do it? |
Let me elaborate, so I tried reverse blinking but it didn't work for me at all, I didn't even get to feeling tired. Though I was already pretty awake when I tried it and my mind was wondering. I felt pretty frustrated that it failed, so any tips for reverse blinking? |
as well, I do record in my dream journal but I haven't read over it, is that a problem? |
