Last night I did my second attempt at lucid dreaming. I went to bed around 1:00 and I wasn't planning on waking up in the middle of the night but I woke up around 5:00 for some reason. I was tired and ready to fall back to sleep so I decided to attempt the FILD method. I relaxed myself and made sure my body was on the brink of falling asleep and I began very slightly moving my fingers and concentrating on the feeling of my muscles contracting. After about 15-20 seconds I started feeling almost weightless and my heart started pounding faster than I've ever experienced. I began imagining a park while still concentrating on my fingers and my view behind my eyes began to change. It started getting brighter and I started seeing green and blue against each other and I remember vaguely hearing wind whistling in my ears. Suddenly my girlfriend rolled over and nudged me several times in her sleep and I broke concentration and it faded away. I opened my eyes and I still felt almost weightless and my heart stared to slow down but was still pounding. I felt...out of sync with my surroundings. I did a RC and it showed me that I wasn't dreaming. Was I close? Was I on the brink of emerging into a lucid dream? I've never lucid dreamed before but this felt...different, like something I've never felt before and it was both exciting and terrifying at the same time. It was exhilarating...how close was I...and is there anything I can do better to succeed next time? |
