Have you seen it through to the end? If not then its understandable that you dont like it, I wasn't a huge fan while watching most of it but once you finally find out at the end what the hell was happening you get why everyone likes it so much. |

Can someone tell me what’s so good about this movie? I rented it and have it for a week and it mostly sits on the shelf. It’s a cartoon. I feel I could make a better movie with my home movie camera. I’m not trying to just find debate. I really would like to know what the raving is and why so many give it a good rating. |

If you refer to it as "just cartoons", of course you're going to view it negatively. The animation together with the music sets this movie above the rest in the sense that the movie is a unique artistic expression that cannot be duplicated. I would find the movie rather stale if it was done like all other movies. Simply because it is made up of mostly conversations and theories. To interpret these discussions into a "hollywood" movie would be rather unsettling and I'm sure the movie would flop. |

.......Then I think of my youth and of my first love-when the longing of desire was strong. Now I long only for my first longing. What is youth? A dream. What is love? The substance of a dream.
It's not a cartoon, it's rotoscoping, and it's done really effectively. The way everything moves is just about exactly what your mind wants, and after a while you hardly notice it. Everything pulsates and shifts neatly, often helping to tell the story. Not to mention the actual ideas and content in it are enough to keep your mind racing for days. |

Super profundo on the early eve of your day
Hi. I watched it once about a year ago, and I did not like it very much either. Dont get me wrong, I love the art style, and I LOVE lucid dreaming, this film just didnt "click" with me, thats all. |

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who wasn't "blown away" by this movie. |
|
I must say that movie was awesome I've just watched it again and there's a lot of interesting stuff and theories. I think it somewhat accurately captures the nature of a dream. All the wavering and changes are very dreamlistic (omg, I've invented a new term ). |
|
I agree, it didnt initially 'grab' me but i still enjoyed the movie as a whole. It's what got me into dreaming again and made me alot more concious about lucid dreaming which i do close to once a week now alot of the movie is random people talking about crazy ideas for several minutes. It makes you think about what the director was on when we wrote the script! Or else he just grabbed afew philosophy teachers from the local university. Great movie tho!! |

If we spend on average 22 years of our life asleep or dreaming, we arguably live two lives...Our awake life and our dream life.

I find the animation aspect ironically makes the movie more realistic, that is, more like a real dream. If it were simply filmed it wouldn't have the same dream-like quality to it. In my dream things morph and look weird rather like they do in the film. I think they captured the appearance of digital clocks in dreams perfectly, or at least as perfectly as you can portray on a screen. |

If you want to really understand try taking a gram of shrooms...well you can take as much as you want but I find that on higher doses I can never sit still in one place...but with a gram it really makes sense... |

The first time i watched this film i found the background movement almost nauseating, i cant remember being very impressed with it. This could of been something to do with me being overly tired though. The second time i watched it i enjoyed it alot more, and i agree with dreamtamer007, there's always something good about seeing anything with a lucid dreaming subject. |
|
Ok I watched it again and paid attention to all of it. Yea I agree, it is dream like in more then one way. So now on to the next movie if I can get it. MirrorMask Block Buster said it wouldn’t be in until January. I have seen it listed on Line. I hope it is as good as it sounds. Of course nothing can be as good as a real LD. |

I was kind of disappointed about the end too. I just wasn't impressed by the idea that time is somehow just an illusion to make us forget about God or something, which just sounds absurd to me (I'm an atheist). If I were in charge of the film, he would have woken up to start life with a refreshing new wealth of wisdom. |
