Can we have a sense of smell in a Lucid Dream? |

I think every sense is increased if you concerntrate on lucidity and you are succesful at 'cristalizing' the dream, by that i mean no vision of color impediments. |

Last night I had a lucid dream or where I was flying at our school. Anyway, at some point I happened to fart and I could clearly smell the shitty smell. The lucidity in this dream went on and off all the time so I'm not 100% sure if I was lucid in that point. |

Don't think about those damn kangaroos.
Yes we can definetly have a sense of smell during a dream. But usually the sight is what is concentrated on mostly. From what ive read the sight center in the brain has more volum than the other sense centers, so this would be natural. Usually my problem is that when i try to use the other senses i cant remember during recall wether i actually, lets say, heard a noise or that i just "knew" that the noise was there. |

I sometimes find it difficult to incorporate all senses at once. Sight and touch go together pretty well, you just have to focus on what particular sense you are trying to achieve. One time I was floating over the ocean in a beautiful tropical paradise and I could see everything SO clear and feel the wind in my hair...and then I decided, hey I want to smell this too and take in the full experience. So I inhaled deeply and it smelled like the ocean. It was amazing. I think as long as you are focusing on that particular sense it will manifest and become stronger. |

hmm, i find my sight is never very good in a lucid...but it's not good in real life. |

I have a sense of smell in LDs, I havent really thought anything of it, but now that I think about it, it's pretty cool! |

I remember in a lucid dream there was a smell so putrid I screamed. I got really mad. Then I held my nose for a long time, but that didn't help. Smell can be a big part of an LD. |

So many variables, so little knowledge.
I think the senses you use a lot in everyday life will most likely be strong in your (lucid) dreams too. If your sense of smell is bad in real life maybe you won't sense it in dreams either. |

I'm necro-ing this topic because I had a lucid dream recently where I could smell something. And really strong too. I did the finger-through-palm trick and when I took my finger back out, it smelled kinda fishy (gross I know, sorry...but true). |

Yup. I definately smell in dreams. I had a dream once where a friend of mine started to vomit and the smell was so intense I barely avoided vomiting myself. |

I've also had a dream in which I smelled the sweet aroma of marijuana. Only it was pouring out of my lungs. |

The dream is still in my head
