What do you focus on in dreams?

I was just in the Newbie Zone talking about what colors I remember seeing in my dreams. I don't often remember them and I believe that it's because I don't always pay a whole lot of attention to them in real life. I hypothesize that people who are more affiliated with art (painting, drawing, etc.) will recall more colors in their dreams. Building on that, other people, depending on what kind of lifestyle they lead, may focus on other things.

What do you focus on? Color, emotions, objects, what people say, characters, actions, etc.

I tend to focus more on emotions and characters. There's always a lot of people in my dreams and my feelings are usually pretty strong in them.

I used to focus largely on feelings in my dreams. Feelings towards people, or related to the situations I was in, stuff like that. My focus seems to have shifted though, because lately, I haven't had any dreams in which I experienced very strong feelings like I used to, though they still play a part. Now, my dreams seem more visually focused - I can often remember colors, shapes, stunning visual scenes, and that sort of thing. One of my dreams last night was in the sort of washed-out coloring style seen in Sky Captain, which I found rather interesting. Talking is never a big part of my dreams - I rarely remember specific dialogue, or even a voice. It's like everyone in my dreams communicates idea telepathically. I sort of miss the dreams that inolved strong feelings - they usually left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

I tend to pay most attention to sound (music and what people say) and the atmosphere created by the surrounding environment. Both are due to my tendancy to do the same in real life.

An exception is that when I become lucid, I often pay much more attention to things that I would not normally pay attention to, such as the overall visual scene, the sensations of touch and people's behaviour.

It usually depends on 4 things: The season, what exactly my dream is about, my mood, & what bed I sleep in.
Typically, if I am in my own room, anyything goes. I will probably focus more on playing Video Games & enhancing VG difficulty, but it usually depends on my mood, & if I am required to do a LD task w/o my Nintendo DS. Sometimes I may adventure in a dream, expand the amount of time in a LD, or maybe even explore the world out of my bed (going to the movies w/Cody is the best, though!!)....pretty much is my choice, but my personal favorites are when I am actually DSing (and I don't mean the Nintendo DS) w/someone, maybe Splash, my niece, or my boss. If it is a Sunday, I am forbidden to play VGs or adventure in my LDs b/c it is against my religion, so I usually like to speed up the time dial, so Sunday will go away!!.
If I rest in ***'s bedroom, I can WILD a lot easier, so I am a lot more at ease, & may decide to fly across plains or something, but if I rest in my adopted big sis's bedroom, I usually explore the world out of her bed, since.
Stress makes me confused, so I normally cannot control them in that sense.
Winter is alot easier, & spring is hardest to recall in!

I focus on architecture and design. I have no history or knowledge really of it, but i know what looks good. I always pay attention to architecture in real life, and in games I play so i guess thats why it is so important to me

Interiors--lots of design elements like fancy scrollwork and/or tiles, paintings, mirrors--abig one and a major trigger to remind me I'm dreaming--skies. Most of the time I am outside in the lucid, it's night or evening, more rarely, daytime. I focus on the sky, stars, clouds, trees, wind--probably because flying is my main choice of transportation in LD's.

Then, there's the people and their clothing. Last night, for example, lots of fancy clothes--in blacks and reds. Sometimes I have dreams that are characterized by a particular color--like a lens over the camera. Then the dream is greenish, or bluish, maybe even orange. I am starting to observe that these various colors might be related to something physical or emotional I'm going through.

I find it weird that I really don't focus on one aspect of my dream. I am ambidextrious so maybe it is because I work on both sides of my brain. I do have really unreal and strange scenes that are quite amazing sometimes. But I also experience deep emotions that I normally don't delve into during the waking. I don't think I have a musical sense though, as depressing as it is for me to realize. I wish I wasn't instrumentally challenged , but at least I have a good art sense and can sketch well. I think I am visually and emotionally adapted to my dreams mostly..

My lucids are usually intensely visual. Mostly landscapes. Mountains, trees, the sky, water. Very much nature, hmm, wonder where the animals are? Very few animals in my dreams and an unsually small number of people.

My lucid dreams seam to mostly focus on old friends, people and places I new in the past. As far as colors go they mostly seam to be the same as waking colors.

I usually focus on the feelings which I experience while in a lucid dream. I love the feelings of extreme joy and euphoria.

Since earliest childhood all my dreams have had very distinct full color and a considerable amount of motion—I am frequently not just in motion, but traveling. I often have dialog and distinct texure, and on very rare occasions smell or taste. I also read in my dreams, which makes sense, since I am a serious reader and like to write. I once dreamt a novel that doesn't exist outside that dream (why can't we record these things?), and in my dream entered and started living the novel, and later pulled back out and kept reading it. I have also dreamt of writing (longhand), typing, and editing written words. Whether there is more action or more intellectual pursuits appears to be based on the type of challenge I am meeting in the dream. If someone is trying to shoot me, then I am running and shooting back. But if someone is trying to interrogate me, I am rehearsing and delivering my false answers to their questions. (Yes, I have myriad encounters with hostile persons in my dreams. I don't mind any more, since I almost always win these days.)

I've never really thought about this before. I guess it's easy to assume that people dream the same way as you.

What I tend to remember about the long dreams is a lot of story detail. I remember what was going on, a lot of details about the directly involved environment, that kind of thing. Most of my dreams involve some kind of story, as opposed to just wandering around.

I always dream in full colour and I've had some spectacular ones.

Also, there are almost always people in my dreams. Even if I am alone there will be an intruder or something to deal with. Having said that, they aren't generally very emotionally charged. The people are just with me, taking part in the story. Sometimes I don't remember who it was who was there.

I am mostly interested in what is taking place in the dream. Unless a color has an important role to play I won't take special not of it.

colors first and foremost, then characters. Emotions go almost unnoticed, and I usually forget what people say and only remember the general meaning.
