      24 hour lucid dreaming?

      Hey everyone,

I was just putsing around on amazon.com when I found a book titled "Dreaming While Awake: Techniques for 24-Hour Lucid dreaming".

It sounds rather interesting, and I was wondering if anybody here has experimented with lucid dreaming while awake. I remember reading about monks achieving lucid dreams through meditation, but I have no idea if this is related at all to that.

Just was curious if anybody has tried it,

      Nick

Why would anyone want to do this? I think it is impossible first of all because the body cannot sustain REM for that duration. Also there is this thing called life out there LDs should be a supplement to life, not a substitute.

      Hey,

Perhaps I've mislead you and for thart I appologize. I don't mean that you have a 24 hour lucid dream, I mean you are able to have a normal lucid dream at any time during the day.

With enough practice, you should be able to have a lucid dream at any time during the day. We have quite a few here that lucid dream during afternoon naps. All it would take was some meditation to get your mind into a REM state. Difficult, but not impossible.

That might happen, but I try not to let that get into the way all the time(just at night). The only problem is that I can usually only keep it up for 6 hours, & if I did try to do so, it would be heck trying to do it the next night (insomnia)
A few times, I could do that if I stare off into space or fall asleep due to spirals (can't stay awake too long after looking at one!). Most of the time, I prefer to pretend to soar over Utah, & that can sometimes lead to either LDs or ....?

I read that book a few years ago. Very dissapointed. I had hoped for something that would apply the value of lucid dreaming to the waking world. As far as I remember he only really has one or two points which he drags out through the whole book. Very little about what we call lucid dreaming. Talking about being aware of the suttle currents (sensations) of life before they manafest, and so not needing to create this dream world (delusion) we experience. Or something to that effect.
