Anyone ever try writing themselves a "To do" list

I finally ended an LD dry spell last night. I actually attained LD thru a dreamsign and it was quite an experience. Its nice to have that almost-forgotten experience once again. Unfortunately, it only lasted a few seconds and I was only able to interact briefly with a few DC's.

This sparked an idea. There are always things that I want to do while LDing. My problem lies with the fact that I get too excited that I end up forgetting. I'm thinking of writing myself a "To do" list on a slip of paper and placing it in my pocket. When I'm lucid, I'll reach for that slip of paper and hopefully it will help me remember.

Here's my "To do" list for my next LD:
      1. Time travel to 1987
      2. Walk around school campus
      3. Interact with DCs of my childhood / teen years
      4. Fly
      5. Contact dead friends

I think (5) items might be the max. Otherwise, I'll end up forgetting and my slip of paper within my dream will end up being blank or glitching. I'll make an effort to observe all details on the paper like how it was torn, color of ink, etc. This might help me remember.

Any thoughts? Has anyone tried this?

I think that is a good idea! I've got a list, but I never thought about putting it in my pocket and taking it out in the dream. I just made a mental list and try to remember it when I go lucid. I too have a problem with getting excited though. I need to work on it. If it's not excitedness then it is a problem that as soon as I go lucid I wake up. I don't really even have time to get excited. Kinda frustrating, but I figure that eventually I will get it all down pat. Practice makes perfect. lol, I got sidetracked again. I think that the list idea is a great one though. I'll have to try it out!

I had a feeling that it may glitch a bit or even change words. Oh well -- I'm still going to try it. Who knows... I might be able to concentrate on it enough for it to make sense.

youd be better off just memorizing it (5 things doesnt sound too hard)

I think that sounds like a great method. I think I might try it, but if it does turn out like billybob said it did for him, I'll just memorize them.

As silly as it may sound, our intelligence is significantly lower while dreaming. The piece of paper should act as a memory jogger if it works out properly.

My wife tells me about dreams where she even travels to a different planet and is still unable to identify this as an obvious dreamsign. We need all the help we could get.

A part of me tells me it will only remind us of our waking lives and end up waking you up. Thinking of everyday stresses is an instant lucidbuster.

That's a good idea! I think it would work better during the day though. Write down everything you can think of, keep the piece of paper with you, then write down what comes to you. Before you are about to go to bed, look at everything you wrote down and pick out the best things to memorize.
