      Awake Period

Well I've been lucid dreaming for about 4months but most of them are from MILDs or WILDs so i figured i'd try the Wake-up back to bed method. I read that after you get rougly 6 hours of sleep you should stay up for at least 60 mins. 90 better yet. But I was wondering how long could one stay up until having to completely go back through the REM cycles?

Well, it is said that after about 6 hours of sleep is one of the times when we enter REM sleep, and that period ( after 6 hours) is a considerably longer period than some of the others. So when we wake up after those 6 hours, but not become fully awake, or stay awake, it gives us enough time to become aware of our surroundings and getting use to being up. But then once we've went to the bathroom and check the DV and things of this nature, we can then return to sleep and pick up almost exactly where we left off, so we can enter REM sleep fairly quickly and the desired effect is to induce a Lucid Dream because we can slip from being awake, to being in a dream (thanks to our being in REM sleep). I hope this explained it well enough for you, becuse if it didn't, then damn I am a bad teacher.
