      OCD

I was talking to someone who was OCD earlier and this made me think, If you are OCD lucid dreaming would come extremely natural to you. You don't have to be like openning a door 8 times OCD, but like just being organized because al you would have to do is notice a point in your dream when you are not organized and you would be set. Also if you think about not being organized before sleeping you could use that as an RC.

Anyone, especially OCD'ers want to comment?

      Hi Razorback!

Although I am not OCD I am aware that some of the common medication such as adderall or Ritalin, known to treat OCD, has been known to suppress dream recall.
If you are not on medication you may very well have a point!

Come to think of it this might work very well as a therapy tool!!

I took Ritalin for about 6 years due to A.D.D. Now that you mention it I think I didn't remember a single dream in that span. I stoped taking it a year ago because I was sick of relying on it for concentration, and since then I have recalled more dreams with out trying.

Of coarse now I actively try to recall dreams, and I'm having varying levels of success, I am happier with out ritalin and my concentration comes when I need it such as in exams.

I had it/ have it (only a bit now), and sorry to say your appraisal of the situation is way off. There is more to it than what is seen on Matchstick Men and As Good As it Gets. It doesn't automatically mean you are organised and it doesn't mean that it is necessarily manifested in repetitions. It is a seritonin imbalance and an inability by the brain to tell resonable fear from unreasonable fear, so basically it has no positive effects on LDing, and actually many negative ones.

I mentioned this not because of a movie, but because of someone i know. She is OCD and needs to be organized and takes medication for it. I was just wondering if anyone had experience with this. I haven't spoken to her about lucid dreaming, but I will bring it up.

I don't think I have full-on OCD, but I think I might have a very mild case of it. I have weird things I do for no reason like saying things to myself in my head as I do them, keeping things parallel (for example if two remotes are on the table, I always have to make them parallel), doing things in fours (like doing the same thing four times instead of once), and adding numbers in my head when I see them to see if they mean anything. Yeah and I like having things in order but only when I'm sitting at a desk or doing HW or something. And for now it hasn't helped dreams at all. I pretty much lose all of those behaviors in my dreams so it doesn't even affect it.
