Brain Says: "Screw this, I'm out!"

Does anyone else have dreams like that? Like where something incredibly ridiculous is happening and your brain just throws the towel in and wakes you up? Like last night, I had this dream where I was driving around, and I ended up in this artsy-express-yourself-through-interpretation learn-how class. Really shoddy, poorly lit place. Everyone's jumping around and performing excercises along the lines of "Pretend to be the animal which best describes you" and stuff like that. I already didn't want to be there, but my subconscious sorta just cut in and went "No goddamn way!" - and then i'm awake.

      Well, it was kinda funny.
The best times of your life should not be when you're still so young, or else you'll live a life always dreaming of the past.

      Yep

Many many times ill be like, "Heck.. I want out". I'll then realise "Oh im dreaming" and then force myself awake. Of course after im awake I curse myself for waking myself from becoming lucid, I just never realise im lucid.

Lucid dreaming is such a tauntingly simple thing to attain...

Lomebririon, thats a funny crazy dream man..lol..
Usually I dream i am caught up in a series of car wrecks or I am losing control of my own car and about to crash and realize "This Sucks!!" and decide to wake up. Its kinda strange how you know your dreaming enough to wake up but not enough to LD and change things around for the better. Oh well but yeah thats funny man...

I've had a few of those types of dreams. They'd be either so messed up or so boring that some part of me would basically say...eff this...and my eyes would pop open. I'd be instantly awake.

Haven't had one in a long time though.

Those types of dreams are very irritating to me. It's like my brain just up and says, "Is that the best you can do?".

      I find it amusing

I am often startled out of dreaming by the realization that something that just happened was so obviously not real - that it was a dream moment like you are talking about. But then i find it amusing that some things can be completely bizarre and they won't register as being out of the ordinary.
Like I had this dream last week where I was a set of twins. My viewpoint switched back and forth between the male and the female twins depending on what was going on. And we were very weird. incestuous even. but i did not realize i was dreaming until someone i really know entered the dream. It was the reality of him being there that made me realize how unreal everything else had been.

yeah, i had a totally crazy dream last night, that my younger brother was trying to make love to me under a duvet, while my parents watched a gameshow. i felt like i wasn't really part of it all, and i remember thinking 'this is totally ridiculous' and then i woke up. And it wasn't even lucid...
I often wonder if i'm low-level lucid most nights, being in touch with my recall, but not taking it further...

Well, once I had a dream that a teacher told me I'd have to retake my health class in order to graduate, and I just kind of quit. Like, "Yeah, over my dead body". And then I woke up. Honestly, retaking health...worse than most nightmares.

Haha, yes. but my brain is annoying about it.

In one of my more lucid dreams I was Spidermanning around and landed in a tree. I then decided to jump really high and my brain said, "You can't REALLY jump like that!" and I IMMEDIATELY woke up.

I think that it's funny, though, that you can be flying around in your dream over scenery that was OBVIOUSLY was inspired by Grand Theft Auto and totally buy it but something like the sky being too red in a sunset is the thing that tips you off on a dream. I think in dreams your brain can be more accepting of the completely bizarre than the minor distortions of the reality it is so familiar with. Maybe it's something to do with it takes so much more energy to process that you forget to be analytical, or maybe your brain just hates you, who knows?

this has happened to me a few times, usually for a nightmarish dream. when i realize it's a dream, instead of changing it to something good, my brain just cuts it off. usually it's something like i've been smoking lots of pot and the cops show up at the door, or pull me over if i'm in a car, or whatever. my brain says, "oh shit, i'm gonna get busted, no, wait, i can just open my eyes!"
