      The Look of Dreams

Any nonlucid dream I have seems to take place in that time where the sun just set and right before the moon comes up.

Everything seems to look like as it does at sunset, where the film of orange and other colors blend in with everything you see.

I've heard somewhere about people who thought they only dreamt in black and white. Maybe the sunset color is my black and white.

Anyone else have a repeating "look" in their dreams?

What repeats in my dreams is being at work or being rehired at similar jobs I’ve had. As far as color there is absolutely color in dreams. I think it was my second lucid dream when I called a Bull to come over so I could hop a ride. He was a definite Purple and the ride scared me into thinking it was real.

My non lucid dreams tend to have a washed out look. Kind of as if someone has tonned down all the colours.

My dreams repeatedly look just like real life.

Hi Planecrash, I haven't noticed any drastic change in color before on my non-lucid dreams before. Worthwhile research would be analyzing any effects to the quality of dream when the color scheme is altered. For example, would one retain lucidity? Would the dream characters notice the difference when the colors go into psychedelic or black/white realms?
Do you seriously think that blood is the only thing in this world that is colored red?

that's a great idea, I'll have to give it a try sometime when I go lucid. Any ideas on how I could induce the change in colors?

Being observant is perhaps the best way to go. I had a lucid this morning and forgot all about the change in colors, so I didn't even try that. It is my goal from hereon to give it a chance on my next ld.

I would suggest you try to change the color of small articles (ie. flower, shoes, your fingernails, hair, small pets) then expand this as you go on (other people, trees, buildings, skies).

      It's worth a try!

I almost always dream in black and white. I have often wondered what that says about my psyche.

My dreams are always like that. I can not remember any dream I had that took place in broad daylight.

The scenery I tend to notice the most is the bright blue sky, green green grass and enough sunlight to bathe in. I do tend to notice the stormy skies really quick, but they tend to change their look from dream to dream, unlike the ideal day setting.

Colors in my dreams tend to be washed out or subdued. Rarely do I see (or at least, remember seeing) colors like bright red or blue or green. My non-lucid dreams are usually rather fuzzy as well, things not being perfectly defined, and often fading in the distance. There's also a slight feeling of detachment that accompanies most of my dreams.

I dream colours the same way I see them. With me it tends to be detail that is lost.

Everything seems to have a glow to it in when i go lucid
Our dreams are firsthand creations, rather than residues of waking life. We have the capacity for infinite creativity.

Most recently, I had a moment of lucidity in a dream, then I lost it. But I do remember the colors. Mine often range from a variety of very darkened colors, like someone turned down the brightness on a TV, but the sky still is normal. Though like I said, in the most recent dream I had, everything was very bright and very vivid.
