      lucid dreaming squared?

Last night I went to bed with the intention of waking up during the night and making my second attempt at WILD. During the first portion of the night, before awaking, I found myself in a dream where I was attempting WILD. I attempted it two or three times successfully...That is, I dreamt that I was lucid dreaming within my initial non-lucid dream. What are the chances??

Whats up, man? Welcome to DV.

Hmmm. Interesting. I've heard that happening a time or two, but I've never experienced it, myself. But would you call that dreaming of lucid dreaming, or just a dream scene change, technically? Is your mind creating a dream within a dream, or just changing your dream to simulate another dream, ya know?

I don't really think it was lucid dreaming...There was a feeling of control to a certain degree, but only in the sense that I was choosing something from a menu instead of creating my own menu. (A lot of the dream took place in a restaurant)

      method for attaining lucidity?

      UPDATE:

I think there may actually be something to this lucid dreaming within a dream. After writing about the first experience, which seemed superficial, I went back to sleep and had another dream in which I was not lucid. However, I went through WILD in this dream as well, and when I came through to the other side it was an entirely new dream, where I knew I was dreaming and could actually exert control over myself and my environment. When I woke from this dream, I did not go back to the original dreamscape, but rather to waking-reality. While I was "lucid" I exerted control over the dream by consciouslly jumping down a flight of stairs with no fear, and launching myself through a window, which turned out to be made of some kind of gummy instead of glass. It seems to me that is not a particularly reliable method of attaining lucidity, but can actually yield the necessary mindset if you happen to fall into a dream while dreaming. Any thoughts?

WILDing from within a dream seems like it would be a fairly sure shot at attaining lucidity. The downside is, of course, you have to remember to WILD, and the most surefire way to do that is to become lucid. There are other ways, such as thinking about it during the day so that you will remember to do it in your dream, lucid or not. There's a method for this, though I forget the name, that basically entails envisioning how you want a dream to play out before you go to sleep, in hopes that it will go as planned. I would think that time might be better spent attempting a normal WILD, but anything is worth a try, especially when it comes to lucid dreaming. You seem to have had pretty good succes with it so far. Perhaps I'll give it a try tonight.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

well it sounds cool, and here's some advice so you can skip the extra step while you're dreaming. In real life, before you would normally try a WILD (im assuming you try them rather frequently, bnecuase i've seen quite a few of your posts talking about them recently), you should do an RC. This WILL carry over into your dreams, when you are about to try a WILD or whatever you do , and you'll become Lucid. Try it out. But you probably don't need to actually, becuase it seems like you become lucid anyways thanks to the Wild within a dream. So, take from it what you will, but it seems you're well on your way to getting the hang of this...
