      What's YOUR Flying Position?

For those of you who have flown in your dreams, I was wondering what position you use.

For example, when I fly (which is very often), I always fly like a bird - I have to flap my arms to stay aloft, and the hard/faster I beat my wings (arms), the higher/faster I fly. I think this is strange since everyone else I've seen talk about flying just shoots through the air like Superman (which seems so much easier!). And someone else (Leo Volont, I think), uses a lotus position.

      So, how do YOU fly??

Actually the Superman Position is relatively low and slow. I used to use that position, but then in a Dream I found myself surrounded by what looked like an Order of Sufi Dervishes who all flew on Magic Carpets -- they were sitting down crosslegged. They flew rings around. Subsequently I took to flying in that same sitting down cross-legged position and found that I could fly higher, faster, longer, better.

And then, if one would wish to go into Orbit, then the position exactly the opposite of the Superman Position is called for -- not belly down (showing all the world one's sagging belly and genitalia), but supine -- horizontal, but with one's back down and facing upward. In this orientation one can quickly go straight up.

I fly belly down, but not horizontally flat, the front end is raised about 30 degrees. It isn't extremely fast, but it is effortless in terms of staying aloft and steering. I usually fly at a height enough to clear the tops of buildings that are 3 or 4 stories tall. To land I move to a "standing" body position and glide down.

superman style if flying horizontal. feet down if going up. head down if 'diving', then pulling up near the ground.

although i've only flown twice, so these aren't set in stone.

i'd like to try a magic carpet, that'd be sweet. the next time i see a rug in a lucid i'm hi-jacking it

I seem to have 3 flying positions.

In non lucid dreams I will take a running start and dive forward, gliding a few feet off the ground, and slowly landing. I will also sometimes jump in the air higher than is humanly possible.

In lucid dreams I usually levitate. I simply float up in the air. If I’m in a room I will go to the ceiling and “lie down” with my back pressed against the ceiling. If I fly around the room I may do it either vertically or horizontally.

Outside, and for heights greater that say a two story building I will use the horizontal position, a la Superman. But I never fly faster than a speeding bullet. More like a wild herd of turtles.

lol -- I know that feeling. Actually, my flying seems similar to yours. I often simply levitate off the ground, but once I start flying I might be in any number of positions. I haven't found that any one works particularly better than another.

In all the dreams that I've flown, I've found that flapping works. In my latest lucid, I tried to fly superman-style, but it didn't work very well. I felt like a badly-folded paper airplane

In my dreams i've flown by levitating, flying superman style throught the air and by flapping my arms. The one I like the best is the flapping one. It's so fun when you have to flap to get into the air, and the feeling is great!

last night i had a low level lucid. i started to levitate upwards with my feet pointing downwards. i remembered leo mentioning the cross-legged position. i tried it, and due to the power of suggestion i rocketed upwards so fast the earth was soon a distant circle.

i almost thought i'd lost the dream until the earth started coming nearer again, even though i hadn't changed my direction.

now there's a flying technique..i circumnavigated the universe in about 5 seconds

Yes, all of you people really need to practice flying from the folded leg sitting position, or what the Yogins call the Lotus Position. We sometimes hear it referred to the Flying Carpet Position, but one does not need to find a rug in one's Dream. And one does not need to sit down on the ground first. Simply draw up one's legs and one will already be up in the air at least that far. And then any willful impulse to fly or levitate will be met with a great deal more speed and maneuverability. I can't really explain why. Perhaps the reason is because for thousands of years Sufi Zoroastrians, Hindu Yogins, and Buddhist Monks have collected a great deal of collective power and effectiveness into this position. Superman, though, has only been with us a relative brief number of years.

I usually use my pegasus-like winged creatures to fly. On the rare occasion that I fly without them I run much like an animal, in a gallop movement while hovering. It's surprisingly fast.

Iv'e done that in a dream only once, but could only get 30cm off the ground. It was a good feeling though.

Hmmmmmm. yes, I have noticed that as a dream progresses, one slowly runs out of 'gas'. Whatever energy it is that allows us to fly, or for that matter, which provides for intensity of consciousness, in dwindles down as a dream progresses. if one starts early enough in a dream, then one can fly amazingly well, but there comes a point in the dream where one inevitably begins to lose altitude and must look for a place to land.

Has anyone ever gone MEGA fast like they do sometimes in Dragon Ball Z? I've never gone really fast before.

The fastest I have gone was when I assumed the supine position -- horizontal and facing upward. It only took a few seconds to go up and out of the Earth's Atmosphere.

This seems to be persistent. interesting. Prelabeled limitations perhaps?
I will have to try these positions. I have run or flew into the same issues.

I have tried to go what I believe to be the speed of light. For if it was a separate entity from my physical being then my conscious would have stopped. If relativity is true. But>>>would it have stood still just due to perception and if it did, there would be nothing to perceive.
Because there is only now. And if it were to stand still well. Then what.
Maybe my brain would never age. at ninety nine years old I would be physically failing wit ha young mind. What the hell am I talking about?

I see someone mentioned Dragonball Z, that is actually my flying position (minus the speed lol)

I levitate and then fly, sometimes hover on the spot

      >>>>

My flying position is VERY similar to this picture from DBZ here

Frogger rules lol, he should have the ability to fly...not just cross roads and small randomly placed lakes. How often do you find lakes next to roads anyway lol

You have 64KHz power in a 3 GHz World.

Other people have already dreamt, woken up, pissed, shaved, drank their coffee and gone to work before you have finished booting up.

Flying is pretty much all I've done when lucid dreaming and my position or 'style' tends to vary.

Once I just shot up into the air like a rocket. I was literally out of the atmosphere in about three seconds. Then I was just suspended In space looking back on the earth. I've also flown fast like this, but horizontally. I was trying to make it to the coast, but must have gotten tired or something cause I woke up.
Other times I've gone swimming through the air, almost like doing breast stroke under water - maybe like to go swimming under water when ever in water.
Alot of times I've only managed big, gliding jumps - they're fun.

I'm interested in this Flying Carpet position that Leo Volont spoke of. Must try this if I ever manage to gain lucidity again. By the way, why not obtain a magic carpet first? - seems like a neat idea

      flying

My flying LDs tend to vary just like most of yall I see. I tend to levatate more then anything though. I haven't done the flying like a bird with the wing flapping but I have soared like an eagle.

This Is Very Interesting, All These Different Flying Styles Of Everyone....
I Have Yet To Fly In A Lucid Dream. I Had My First Lucid Yesterday, And Didnt Even Think Of Flying!

Has Anyone Tried A Flying Style Such As:
-Imagining That The Air Will be Solid Where You Step, And Walk/Run Into The Air?
-Jumping Into The Air, And Make A Gust Of Wind Lift You Up High?
I Am Very New At This Stuff, So I Dont Know What Would/Wouldnt Work.
