Is there something wrong with me? Or is this normal.

Hi All. I've been doing some reading on dreams and stuff recently. I shared ability to have lucid dreams at will. I've been doing that all of my life, and I too thought that everyone else did the same. But some research study results bothered me:

I've read that it can take at least 30 min for a person to reach REM, and thus have a dream. I've been able to begin dreaming in as little as 2 minutes. In real time I'd only be asleep for 5 minutes, but my dream felt more like an hour. . I've been told time and time again...No No No that's not possible to have a dream in such a small time frame, etc. I've even used my alarm clock to verify the elapsed time.

Most people I've talked to say that they dream in Black and White. All of my dreams are in full color, I can smell, taste, and feel as well.

What I can't explain is a dream where I was looking at a treasure chest. Next it starts to flash repeatedly. Then it explodes, and I wake up. However the explosion noise I heard was actually thunder that had occured outside. How did my brain coordinate that explosion in my dream with the Thunder that had happened outside? It would have to have know that lightning struck, thunder follows, and to explode the chest when the thunder begins.

Every time I share this with other, people look at me like I'm crazy (hopefully this will make sense to someone here). So I'd like to know if anyone else has had these experiences?

There are several people here(were under me,Lost Soul and Serinanth and a few others I think) that too are natural Lucid dreamers.

And yes it is possible to instantly get into a dream, it might also that you are astral projecting without even knowing it.

Also time can move diffirently in the astral plane then it does here so it can apear asif you spend hours there, but only minutes past over here in the pshysical plane.

Most people here dream in color I think. A big part can smell feel etc I think

So no, its not crazy ^_^ Its a gift

I hope that answers it a bit

Wish I were a natural like Lucius, I for one have to work on it.
My dreams involve all of my senses. Many times they are hyper-aware, that is, colors are brighter, sense of touch is more sensitive.

It would be really sad to dream in black and white

Well, if you're crazy then so am I, and so are a lot of other folks. I've gone from being awake to lucid dreaming countless times, so no matter what "they" say, it IS possible!

The whole theory that dreams only occur in black and white is total BUNK. My dreams are in colors that are even brighter and more vivid than reality. In fact, every sense is heightened in my dreams. Smells and tastes are just fantasic.

I know exactly what you are talking about with the dream incorporating outside noises instantly into a logical dream sequence. One night while I was dreaming, a picture that I had just hung that day fell off the livingroom wall and made a loud noise. In my dream, someone who was standing by me clapped her hands real loud. Somehow in my dream, I knew that sound was too "real" and I purposefully woke up to go see what really made the noise. But it's amazing how fast your brain can take outside stimuli and make perfect, INSTANT sense out of it in a dream.

the treasure chest flashing was the lightning and the explosion was the thunder. i love how that works. -- i don't remember ever having black and white dreams, but i do remember not having several senses but all senses came to me as i started writing down dreams and started become more aware of them while i was in them. -- i think most everyone here knows what you're talking about and we've all experienced it at one point or another.

My dreams are always in color.. boy how boring would it be to have only black and white dreams. I would see that as a nightmare.

I had only one black and white dream. I *guess* it was black and white.
      I dont know why.
All I can say, it was horrible - sharp black and white images, horrible plot, animal characters. In the end *I* was crucified...
But it's so unclear, I cant say for sure.

it only took a fraction of a second for the lightning to strike or the picture to fall off the wall yet when you were dreaming your mind created the perfect situation for these loud outside noises to occur, well before they did?I know what you mean...how could the mind fortell? only thing I can think of is that time doesn,t exist in dreams and the events leading up to the outside noises and the noises themselves happened simultaniously.it,s hard for me to explain what i,m thinking..maybe I should shut up now.

Don't stress about it, it will come. How is your dream recall?

I'm sure that if you become lucid and then focus on it, you'll be able to use all your senses, including your sixth sense.

Every time i dream i always can tell what other people are thinking, and we hardly talk, except when something exciting is going on (a fight).
i also can make things i need appear out of nowhere, and alter the objects themselves (turn airsoft gun into a real one).

its like in the matrix when the dude wants to learn kung fu, and instantly he knows what to do, and can move super fast...man i wanna try that
