      Confused about Vitamin B-6 dosage.

I bought a box of Vitamin B-6 tablets. There are 90 in total, each weighing 10 mg. At the side of the pack, it says recommended dosage:10mg a day. So one of these little tablets a day.

Now, I'm reading here that people are taking like 100-300mg, which seems like a huge amount. That's like me eating ten-thirty of these pills. Am I missing something here? Also, should I take them just before bed? Surely eating ten of these pills at once is pretty dangerous. I don't know. If it helps, then I'm up for it.

I don't know about you but I'm kindof confused about how much the people need, just like averagre or to like help dreaming or something? but it says

DONT TAKE MORE THAN 1000 MG!! [/b]
      so that helps

I have been experimenting with b6 the last 3 days or so and I have had the best results with 100mg about an hour before bed. When you see people taking 100+mg they usually have 100mg b6 pills instead of 10mg. I took 8 100mg pills which is 800mg and I had a terrible night sleeping. I woke up MANY times and was very difficult to fall asleep each time. When I took the 200mg I woke up a couple times but in the morning I could not recall any dreams at all. When I took the 100mg I recalled 3 dreams but they were fragmented and I really dont know what was going on. I am going to keep experimenting with pills and Ill post whenever I see a chance to discuss my experiences.

i've found 200mg (i have 100mg pills) works perfectly. however, i am a strict vegetarian, so i am naturally inclined towards B6 deficiency.

probably only about 80-100mg is actually above and beyond the amount an average person gets in their diet.

70mg is a good place to start. try that for a few days and see how it works...

      wow

I would just like to say be very careful of taking megadoses. There is alot of scientific studies that should evidence of short and long term damage from abnormal amounts of any vitamins or minerals. Many scientists/health advocates have gone against the Linus Pauling view in recent years as more evidence suggests his original theory doesn't stand anymore.

At best, you will just excrete the unused vitamins/minerals with no harm done. But at the other end, you could be doing yourselves damage. My Advice, stick below 100mg of B6 and, if you don't already, start taking a protein supplement. It's not just for gym junkies (although workouts can help to attain lucidity, cardio and resistance) or vegetarians. As for the B6 vitamins working that night. It's more than likely a placebo effect. You would have to give the supplements at least 2 weeks before they really start affecting you.

I don't mean to sound like I'm completely knowledgeable in all these areas, far from it. It's just a combination of being a fitness/health freak for almost a decade and being a year through my Biomolecular degree, which I had to do a researched paper for an assessment on vitamin interactions.

      B6 Poison

I knew some that worked in a vitamin factory, and he was told that a undiluted B6 powder was poisonous. Other chemical are poisonous as well, in large enough quanities.
