You're Invited to Try Out Sawlogs.net

      Hi,

Sawlogs is a way to store, search, sort and share your dreams.

Sawlogs.net launches soon and I'd like you to help out and take a test run through the web site.

      With Sawlogs you can:

      Keep your dream blog online
Sawlogs lets you record and store your dream blog online in a secure, password-protected area — and at the same time lets you share the dreams you'd like to make public with the others using Sawlogs.

      Discover who dreams like you
Sawlogs stores, sorts and retrieves dreams from the database of dream blogs to find dreams just like yours — letting you hook up with other dreamers who have had similar dreams.

      Discuss yours and other dreams
Once you've connected up with other dreamers, you can use Sawlogs as a community blog — discussing dreams, their content, interpretations and more.

I'd like you to use Sawlogs as your dream blog - it'd be a big help to ensure everything on the web site is working! Here's what you need to do:

      1. Go to http://www.sawlogs.net
      2. Cruise around the 'Explore' section before signing up.
      3. Sign up by clicking the 'Sign Up' button at the top of the page.
      4. Sign in after clicking the link in the email you'll be sent after signing up.
      5. Describe any dreams you can recall during the week or can remember from an earlier time (by clicking the 'Describe a Dream' link at the top of the page)... (5 dreams in all).
      6. Tell me if you experience any problems, or if you'd like to see any changes or enhancements made. If, for instance, you can't sign up or sign on, send me an email, or click the 'Contact Us' link that can be found at the top right of every Sawlogs page.

Direct all emails to [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks for your help and support with this project -

      Rick Smith

      Hi,

I went ahead and manually verified your account.

It looks like your email provider munges up the activation code - I've added a line in the activation email to this effect: that with some web mail providers, you need to copy and paste the activation code into the browser's address bar in order to activate your account.

For most folks, it'll just work - but this work-around will help anyone else having problems -

If you sign in now, you should be good to go at Sawlogs.

Write me at [email protected] if you're still having a problem -

      Thanks for writing!

One of the best chainsaws made! My father-in-law and I have cut mountains of firewood using one of those. Of course, he gets to cut and I get to load the truck and carry off the brush.

      Hah!

      Thanks for posting this message.

New Dream Dictionary - Ready for Dream Interpreters!

It's (fairly) empty now, but the new Sawlogs dream dictionary will soon be full of dream symbols and their meanings. Where are these definitions coming from? You. Sawlogs members can add and edit definitions in the spirit of Wikipedia. This spirit of cooperative building is what the dreaming community is all about and we're excited to see what transpires! So sign up and define a dream symbol.

Another bonus is that Sawlogs matches dream content with defined dream symbols. Check out the dream Flying on 3/3/06 by LeeAnn Garrett for an example. She dreams of flying, and her dream links to the flying dictionary symbol definition. As more definitions are submitted, dream entries will become more robust and meaningful for the dreamer -

So if you would like to interpret a dream on Sawlogs, the best way to do it is define a dream symbol (instead of leaving a comment on the dream's page).

At first I dismissed this whole Sawlogs thing as promotional spam, buuuuut...

It kinda looks interesting. I'll stick to what I'm doing at the moemtn, which is keeping dreams on Dream Views, if at all. But when I get some spare time, I'll look into it and se if this sawlogs thing is any good, or just a gimmick. What you say is promising... not entirely convinced by the dream symbols, though, I think that's mostly a load of rubbish except for a few exceptions... I reckon dream interpretation is a much more subjective, personal exercise...

But hey... no... what you SAY about the site looks promising, even though it's obviously shameless self-promotion. I'll have a look-see in the holidays...

      Blue Meanie,

      Regarding the dream dictionary:

I agree with you for the most part. In building the dictionary section of Sawlogs like Wikipedia (where anyone can participate in the dictionary's construction), I'm hoping to get a wide range of interpretations. For me, looking at dream interpretation like Hobson does in 'The Dreaming Brain' would be most promising... but there are folks out there who enjoy archetypal symbology guiding their approach to their dream work.

Huh. I'm completely unread as far as dream interpretation goes... My dream interpretations tend to be very subjective and specific to the actual dream and dreamer... I like to think I'm pretty on-the-mark most of the time, but hey, who knows?

But I might have a little read of that book you suggest. I'm trying to learn as much 'bout dreams as possible.

Interesting. The site looks promising... I'm still sticking to DV for now, though, as far as keeping my DJ goes. I'll wait to see how successful the site is... I may have a few questions, though, at some future point in time if you feel like answering them, that'd be great. PM me if that's the case.

      Dream Cloud

I thought folks might be interested in seeing what words show up most in dream descriptions at Sawlogs. I've presented them in the trendy tag clouds of Web 2.0 here:

      http://sawlogs.net/research_hello/sawlogs/cloud.php

Click any of the keywords displayed to see dreams where the term appears.

      Post dreams anonymously at Sawlogs

If you were squeamish about posting dreams using your real name (or simply didn't want to sign up), you can now post dreams anonymously at Sawlogs.

      http://www.sawlogs.net/

The dream submission form is right on the front page of the web site, and it allows users to submit dreams without signing up or using their real name, while at the same time allowing members to describe a dream and sign up at the same time.

Anonymous dreams are posted under the name 'Anonymous'. After a few submissions, if someone does decide to take the plunge and sign up to get their own dream journal, they can even claim dreams posted anonymously later on.

I only discovered this site today. It's just what i've been looking for and it seems a lot of effort went into it. Thought i'd dig out this topic to bring it back into attention of others who were unaware.

I tend to prefer a 107kg pneumatic log splitter

Seriously though, that site looks pretty nice. Once i restart my DJ I will definitely think about using it for my more personal dreams, as the I believe the private entry feature disappeared with the introduction of the IPB board, and just post the dreams that I want people reading here too.
