What has this site done for you?

I joined this site 1 month ago today. Before I joined this site, I was 17 years old and today, the 1 month anniversary of me being here just happens to be my 18th birthday. Although 17 and 18 are just numbers, I felt like I hadn't done enough during my childhood and that I was going to be an adult with nothing remarkable to look back on. Yes I have friends and stuff so it's not like a sat in this computer chair for 18 years, but there was always a lack of excitement and thrill that I felt. With one month left until my 18th, I started to go through my old childhood belongings. I came across my old Tamigochi (if anyone remembers what that was), and I played my old GameBoy for a little while.

I came across this site during this time and I have heard of Lucid Dreaming before but felt to lazy to try it because I know it would take a lot of time. So I started Jan. 26th with my first Dream Journal entry and decided that I knew I wouldn't get immediate LDs and that I should be patient and stay with it. Well, since then, I've had 7 LDs, one with 3 in one night. Also, the feelings I've experienced during WILD attempts, although weird were quite extraordinary. I felt a thrill from each of the 7 LDs I had especially the one where I was soaring the sky for a few minutes. I must say, I feel better about my life right now.

So as cheezy as this may sound , I say Thank you Dream Views.
Wait!! .......Am I dreaming right now?
      LDs: 8
Most LDs in one night: 3

It's time for a new beginning...

Wow.... I was just about to post a topic about this

I was thinking last night aboput how life is for people who cant LD, how could you live knowing that your always going to be held down by the current situations your in in life? (school, low money, full time job etc...) how is it that people pull through everyday knowing that tomorrow is going to be just the same as today, do they rest assurred that some time in the future its going to get better and they can live through all their life ambitions? still knowing that in all likely-hood they arent going to rise up above their problems?
I personally cant even begin to imagine life without lucid dreaming.... unlike my friends and family (even though they're in the exact waking circumstances as me) I have a place that I know I could go to if life ever gets too unbearable, yes this might sound like escapism but who cares? all we have in this life is 75 years and if I ever get in a place so bad that I cant get out I like the fact that all I have to do is close my eyes and Im in a better place

so I guess what that rant meant was that what lucid dreaming has given me is peace of mind that until the day I cant dream anymore I'll always be happy nomatter what the circumstances (jail, psycho house, everyone around me hating me, etc) with this in mind I can finally be myself and not worry about what people around me think of me, (I used to be really "shy" before LDing with low self asteem)
      ------

anyway there it is, I was going to start a topic about how bad I feel when people dont believe that LDing is real (friends and family) its really sad when theres is amazing opportunity (practically heaven on earth) and people dont believe its possible because it is really one of those few things that really just sounds too good to be true. any experience you desire and all you have to do is a few reality checks a day
      .

cemented in my mind that lucid dreaming is entirely possible, and that people just like me can get incredibly proficient at it.

given me a place to talk about one of my biggest passions currently (and likely the rest of my life), and share experiences and advice.

yesterday i had my 39th lucid since joining dreamviews not quite 3 months ago. although i had gotten EWOLD the week before and already had one 3 second lucid, i have no doubt i wouldn't have come so far so fast without this forum.

every lucid dreamer should check out DV

i've heard a couple people on here say that this forum was a very distinct point of inflection in their lives, and i think i'd have to agree--this forum has single-handedly started me on what will probably be the most important journey of all. also, i can actually spend time on the internet in a worthwhile manner, instead of just playing starcraft and counterstrike.

      thanks!

I agree with all of you, that lucid dreaming has increased my life quality, and that it really is a shame that not everybody is into it. However I would also like to comment that one should not, In my humble opinion, place too much "lifefocus" (In lack of a better term) on ones dreams.

I will try not to get off topic here nor pretend that I am a guru of sorts, but please, stay with me. I see lucid dreaming, as well as other mental disciplines such as meditation or even ecstatic dancing, as tools for bettering your life quality. I believe that one should not become too caught up with ones tools, and forget what you wanna do with them. I would guess that what most of us really want is to be happy, and surely LD'ing is great for that purpose. But it is not the only thing. I don't remember the numbers exactly, but I think we dream about 2hours each night, provided you sleep 8hours. That still leaves us with 16hours of potential fun! Perhaps it is more difficult to have fun during the waking hours, and one can be heavied down by outside problems, but there is always a way out of them, if you keep trying. I know that LD has changed the lives of many for the better, but that should not make one stop searching for other tools! LDs should be both a place of refuge AND an inspiration for living!

And besides, the more we get out of life, the more we get out of dreams.

Our dreams are firsthand creations, rather than residues of waking life. We have the capacity for infinite creativity.

This site has proved very helpful to me. Before I found this site I was already into lucid dreaming and have a novadreamer (but the damned thing is broken). The same night I found this site and posted I had a lucid dream! I'm sure spending a few hours reading the site had something to do with it. In the past year I was very busy with work and school, so it was harder to practice lucid dreaming. Recently though I've been wanting to get back into it. I only know one other person in real life that knows how to go lucid. Most other people either dont understand or dont believe me when I tell them. I'd like to give a thank you to dream views as well, cause it has helped me too.
