I have noticed different types of dreams too, although not all of them fit into categories. A lot are really, really random stuff that isn't neccesarily weird...
Anyway.
Lucid dreams; you all know what that means.
Faux lucid dreams; I'm dreaming of lucid dreaming! Or I think I'm awake. Or I'm doing normal everyday stuff without questioning reality at all.
Epic dreams; Really long, vivid, narrative dreams. They have great visuals and the stories are always coherent (even if the events are nonsense). I get one or two of these a year...
Anxiety dreams; I know my anxiety dreams. I get lots of random, vague images. It's fast moving, there's no story, and I never wake up refreshed.
Museum dreams; Another one I get very rarely, but they are distinct. I am in a museum or an art gallery or somewhere like that (I think an aquarium on one occaision). There are sometimes a few other people around, like classmates as if it was a school trip. But in the most distinct ones the place is totally empty. I'm usually looking for something, in most cases the exit. There's no story, I just remember walking around.
Displaced dreams; I used to have a lot of dreams about going to the end of my street (it's a long street) and everything being WRONG there. It made me question my actual knowledge of the local geography! The most recent one I had like this involved me going to someone's house, and finding it looked a lot like mine. They feel very real, and are a bit disturbing in their own way because I don't feel like I belong in familiar surroundings. It's like the world changed.
Nightmares; They are generally short, vivid, and needless to say, quite scary. I get them rarely, thankfully.
Brain farts; Random stuff, not very well remembered. Happens most nights.
Normal dreams; Anything not mentioned above! Which covers a LOT. The above ones are only the dreams which are formulaic, and very few dreams are formulaic.
