Interesting Thought, could be really useful

Ok, so basically I read a chapter from my science book before I went to bed and I had a dream (not lucid unfortunately) where I was reading that book in class. When I woke up I remembered the paragraph that I read, and I went to go look at it in the book. Surprisingly it matched what was writting word for word. Basically i'm assuming that it means that when I initially read this information, even though I don't necessarily thing that I am remembering all of it, apparently I memorized it word for word without even knowing. What my question is, is that if you can access this during your dreams...there must be a way to access this information during real life, and that could make high school and college seem like a breeze, knowing that you could read a textbook once and have a photographic memory of it...so basically i'm convinced that the information is definately there, now the only thing is how do you access it when you are awake?

      Perfect Memory?

I've thought about this in a slightly different way, but it is the same idea. Why can I create seemingly flawless humans, things and places in full living 3D in my mind while asleep, yet I can't draw anything accurately that I'm not looking at when awake?

A possible answer to that came out of Australia a couple years ago. (A Google or two should bring up the research, but I'm not going to do it right now.) A researcher found a way to use electromagnetism to "turn off" parts of the brain.

The results of doing this are downright startling. It emulates different kinds of brain damage. He found that by "turning off" certain parts of the brain, people could suddenly draw brilliantly. Even more amazing, subjects under his hat didn't even know they were doing it until after the hat was turned off! In other words, he could temporarily turn people into savants. It actually appears that a properly functioning brain represses itself in many ways.

Stretch this idea now into what the brain is doing while dreaming. Research has shown different areas go through a wild variety of levels of activity and inactivity. Perhaps parts of the brain that restrain vivid recall and imagination go dormant and permit the unrestrained brain to do what it is capable of anyway.

The thing is... there is a reason our brains work the way they do. Yes, our brains ARE capable of perfect recall... but could we endure it? Could we survive if we could step into universes of our own creation at will, 24/7?

It is a fascinating thing to ponder. I've never believed in "talent" per se. It seems to me that some people simply find and develop more efficient ways of thinking about things like music and art than others. And yet physical brain damage is clearly capable of producing something that looks like talent.

I know it's bad form to reply to one's own post, but here is one link to that research referenced above:
