silent lucidity

I recently re-discovered this song by queensryche, anyone remember this?? It is a beautiful song, and since I've been reading up on lucid dreaming, it actually means something to me now. just thought someone else might be interested. you can get it on itunes.

Hey Dream - YES, I remember that song and it's so weird how it all just makes sense now, doesn't it?

There was a thread last year (I think) about lucid dreaming songs - I was the only one who posted that one, but I don't think many people heard of it (or at least no one made a comment about it).

Sometimes writers write pices that can have a couple different meanings depending what the listener makes of it - but some of those lyrics are quite specific:

"There’s a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run to in the night" <-- dream

"So here it is, another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over...or has it just begun?" <-- false awakening?

"A round trip journey in your head
Master of illusion, can you realize
Your dream’s alive, you can be the guide but..." <-- dream control

Not to mention the spoken part in the bridge in which the guy specifically says "...we can achieve dream control"

yeah, I listened to that part over and over til I got it all...

"visualise your dreams,
record them in the present tense,
put them into a permenant form,
if you persist in your efforts,
you can acheive dream control.:

Anyone ever see the video to the song? I know they must have had one - I just wasn't a huge fan at the time and didn't really pay attention. Wonder what kind of plot or scenery the video incorporated.

Ok, dudes, here's the video ---- there's no mistake, SO about dreaming!

Personally, I think if only they'd asked us for some ideas the video would have been much better. Not really sure Dreamviews was up back then, though.

Wow! That video is not nearly as cool as it was when I was in junior high. I think it's amazing that he mentions techniques that are now so popular on the web. It's cool how subjects such as dream control can reach such a wider audience now days.

oh I remember that song...I love that dude's voice, he studied opera or something I think?

anyway, chorus:

I-will be watching over you
I-am gonna help you see it through
I-will protect you in the night
I-am smiling next to you...in silent lucidity

this song, especially that part, kinda made me think of a parent trying to teach his child to lucid dream so the child can learn to control his nightmares

the nightmare (in the 1st verse):

Hush now dont cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
Youre lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream
Spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
Of someone close to you leaving the game of life

a few months hardly makes it a dead topic, so long as you have something relevant to contribute

I always loved that song since it did relate to dreams. To hear that song now... it's so obvious what it's about. Gives it a hellova lot more meaning than I'd originally attributed to it.

And that guy's voice is so beautiful... dreamy all on it's own. I'm pretty sure no other singer would have been able to pull off singing Silent Lucidity as well as he does it.

What a gorgeous song and video.
Thanks for resurrecting it.

Talking about Dreaming in Song Lyrics:
System of a Down Mention it in a very abstract, poetic, typical System of a Down way in Spiders.

Also in the Song Dreaming.. well the Title sais enough. I love the Lyrics:

DREAMING
For today we will take the body parts and put them on the wall

For treated indigenously, digenously
Human right is private blue chip, pry

We're the prophetic generation of bottled water, bottled water
Causing poor populations to die, to die, to die (For treated
indigenously, digenously) (Human right is private blue chip, pry)

You, you went beyond and you lost it all Why did you go there From
beyond you saw it all why did you

We lost consumer confidence in casual karma, casual karma
Confetti, camouflage, camouflage, the flage, the flage
(For treated indigenously, digenously)
(Human right is private blue chip, pry)

We're the prophetic generation of bottled water, bottled water
Causing poor populations to die, to die, to die

(For treated indigenously, digenously)
(Human right is private blue chip, pry)

You, you went beyond and you lost it all Why did you go there From
beyond you saw it all why did you go there

She lost her mind
Someone kicked her into the back of the line

She lost her head
When they called and they said that they thought he was dead

Dreaming of screaming
Someone kick me out of my mind
I hate these thoughts I can't deny
