      Practising skills in a dream?

Do you think if you can become lucid every night at will, that you can perfect motor skills while asleep. You train your muscle memory and coordination while alseep, etc. So when you wake up you can do something better. I know this wouldn't make you stronger or anything, but do you think you would improve accuracy with this mental practise?

I know someone who learned to perform a salto backwards just through training in a LD.

      Incredible!
I'd love to try this out with something like tennis, perhaps (since every time I hit the ball it flies over the fence )

      LD a good learning tool.

You can be in a dream that has such real content that it is very difficult to determine if you are dreaming.
If you can determine if you are dreaming then you are engaging in a lucid dream. But I agree with you that if you never know, then you were never actually lucid.

What is scary is if you become lucid and the dream scene remains stable and you can't seem to UN control things. (A turn around from the norm) It does sound asinine and I have argued with many about this. I believe because they have never experience it, that they will never understand. But what ever...

In retrospect, if this occurs ever again, I am going to use this tool as a learning mechanism.
Such a stable environment I will administer something "left brain" oriented. Chess, golf, guitar, math ...Something. Bring it on mind. It's all me!

I've also heard of muscular development through lucids, so even doing pushups in a lucid state could build muscle (but there are much better things to do with this rare opportunity).

Actually, yes, I recently read that what you are saying is true. Wish could recall the source. You don't even have to be asleep. You can practice a skill in your waking mind. And it can help you attain things like better physical strength, co-ordination. Maybe because the more you do something, the more neurotransmitters develop in that part of the brain. You also, supposedly, develop more blood vessels in whatever part of the brain is involved with whatever activity you are involved in.

While you have as many brain cells as you will ever have when you are born, your brain does, apparently, kind of grow or evolve. If you do a lot of math, you become more adept at math, not just because you practice, but in a way, you are literally exercising that part of the brain: developing more neuropathways there.

I wish I could remember exacty what I read. Say you are interested in weight training, if you vsualize yourself training with the weights, supposedly, people who do that are actually better at building muscle and developing that muscle at a faster rate. Cool.

I've also read something like that, I think there is a link somewhere around the forums, but i'm too lazy now to search for it maybe later.

And about the pushups, I don't think you can actually build up muscle's, but if your brain send those signal's then you can be more used to the feeling of using your muscle's and thus you will be able to push your limits, even if you didn't get actually stronger.
But maybe we should stick to the old way --> do pushups in real world
