      Hypnosis Certification

I have already paid for a course that will start in September to become a certified hypnotist, which lasts 3 months, 4x a week, and exams. I spoke with Kathy Moore, the instructor, and she is familiar with lucid dreaming and recognized Steven LaBerge's name immediately. We will be able to pick a subject of focus, and I will be doing development of the mind and body through lucid dreaming.

I am going to start my research early, and have been reading "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming", which helped me have a lucid last night. I will make Lucid Dreaming my specialization. My question is how should I approach this. I know the course will teach me a lot, but would be good to get some advice here about what hypotheses I can test.

I am soon going to be studying Japanese as well, but had also wanted to work on artwork, and do martial arts. Would there be a scientific way of researching and progressing through my lucid dreaming studies? I don't have the aid of a sleep lab, so will do things naturally. Perhaps I can track progress of a certain skill.

The class that is coming up will cover many of the same topics shown here: http://mooreinspire.com/hypnosis_school_calendar.html

      Wow. How very cool!

I don't really understand your question: what hypothesis you can test. What did you have in mind?

It sounds like you have chosen some fabulous things to study that will keep your interest for your entire life.

      Best Wishes

I've been doing self-hypnosis recently, I have been going through different stages. First I used it just for recall, and attached dream recall to the phrase "I will remember my dreams". Then vividness, then lucidity. I'm still on the recall section, but I'm making progress.

So maybe you can break up lucid dreaming into different stages like I have or something.

How ironic... I've just seen a hypnotherapist today! It was with a psychology class, and it was absolutely amazing. I think it's very cool that you're doing this; it's one of my dreams that I've unfortunately had to push aside for the time being.
As for your specific question, I don't really know what would be best. Maybe change the settings and conditions of the subjects or what have you as they dream, and record data with several small changes each time to see in what setting people LD best? There are really tons of things you could do.
      Good luck!
