      Home Made Dream Light

      Hello...
I was pondering making my own Dream Light.. one that detects the REM and sends an alarm. I am trying to make it simple. I though about using some components from a motion detector (security type) and mount in goggles. I am not sure if the IR Sensor will detect the REM, though. If any one has tried this, or knows how this will work, please message me!

      Thanks,
      KC

wow, I've never heard of anything like that, much less know anything about making one

good luck with it though, and let us know how it goes

maybe you could also post about it in the Research Forum and see what comes of it

I don't think it would work with that type of motion detector. The easiest and cheapest way would be to set a timer. Or you could use the heart rate to detect REM sleep.

There have been quite a few methods discussed here over the years. Eye movement detection, skin resistance, heart rate. Try a quick search, you should find a few threads.

I agree with nightshade. The easiest way is to create a timer, or to connect flashing LEDs to an alarm clock. If you keep a fairly regular sleeping schedule, it is possible to predict fairly accurately when you will be in REM.

      Good luck!

Well... It's difficult for me to keep a regular sleeping schedule... and a timer would require good timing... It's an idea... but I will proceed with the motion sensors.... I have a sensor that has two IR sensors in it... I will try those... Even use an IR LED for IR Sensor illumination, which should make the movements more noticible to the sensors... It's just a project... if all else fails... I'll be finding an alarm clock... ; )

      Thanks
